Good Night From II

I'm at a small truck stop just south of Austin, TX.

I got up this morning, got my coffee, then headed to the Laredo terminal to pick up my load.
It had already been delivered.
They had a couple drivers doing the local stuff, so I was told to go wait for a real OTR load.
That was a bit frustrating at first, but about 2 hours later I got a good load headed to IA.
A bit over 1100 miles and less than 8k, also picking up at the terminal.

And it could be that if I had delivered that local load I might have been sent to the bottom of the list for loads, so it worked out very well. This load will give me a decent week with the 1300 mile load I delivered there on Thursday.
Not a great as I had hoped for, but decent. 2 days in the shop and another just sitting on Sunday really shot that good week to someplace bad.
And it looks like the weather will be colder but clear all the way.

I didn't get very far today because I didn't want to lose time in rush hour traffic.
No matter, I have the time to plan it as I wish. It just means a bit longer day tomorrow.
But I'll get through Austin before 0630, so no time wasted.

 

Au contraire ... Planning for this year, saw big tax problems.

First trip this year ... $4100 in revenue, $950 in fuel and $96 in fixed expenses ... Huge tax problem. Huge! ... becoming a W2 company driver was the best solution.

Leasing isn't the way to go?

Right! I don't want to hit the Powerball this week either. I'ld have to pay 500 million in taxes and would only be left with 800 million. Just not worth it.
