Aren't we nearly out of the high wind season in WY?
For that matter, shouldn't we also be getting out of the slow freight season?

I do not think that WY is ever out of the high wind season. As far as slow freight, I have been hearing this for almost 9 months now. Seems like everywhere I go, plenty of freight until I show up, and then none

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Was it the Xantrex inverter? I saw those standard equipment installed at Rush Peterbilt, just walking around peeking at their new trucks. What is cool about them you plug in shore power, it goes through the inverter which perfectly tops off the batteries and the rest of the power goes to the household outlets. If no shorepower, it provides power like a regular inverter.

Two thoughts, it sounds to me like Shore Power might be great in the winter to run a small $20 space heater, but useless in the summer.

Maybe with the Gov's push for finding sleep apnea and CPAP victims, somebody decided its just cheaper to install inverters in new trucks at the start, instead of having to install them on an "as needed" basis.

Who knows? Maybe the big truck makers are just out of any new gimmicks to try to sell their trucks.

Woke up this morning and no pplan. So much for all this freight here. Then finally sent one, load of beer that was t-called at the terminal. Going to Kent, WA. No appointment and 45,300. No way. Not going north and with that weight, was not going to be profitable. After paying the road taxes in OR, might have seen a profit of about .20/mi, if lucky, considering probably get about 5.5mpg

YEP! I figure it costs me about $50 each trip across Oregon for road tax. The good thing now is the truck speed limit is 65mph, and oh man, does that make a huge difference when hitting those hills. Because before, you hit one at 55, then its 45 then your down to 35, but with a good running start, doing 65 its really not that bad now. But still, 45K, its rough just getting north of Tremonton into Idaho, and the trip across OR and even in WA, will be a bugger.

Yes, being out of WVC, usually its always a trip NW out of that term, its lucky for me to go anywhere or any place else. That's why I was really excited about a P-G ld going to MT, instead of the 2 previous PP's either CA or WA, when I was there last.

I hate to say it, but you maybe should have taken that Cabala's ld going to NE, if its the same place I once del'ved to its a simple drop and hook, and somewhere in the area, I can't remember the cities name, there is the main Cabala's Dist Center. and usually it could be a ld going to Eau Claire, WI. or somewhere else. All light. My last load was actually a few thousand lbs of stuffed animals going to a new store. Creepy weird, dead stuffed deer and things, yep!

The winds will never die down in Wyoming or any place else for that matter. There is stuff online about the lack or diminishing levels of oxygen in the atmosphere, due to deforestation and desertication of the planet. It makes a lot of sense, oxygen creates a resistence, and without it, the wind is free to flow. You might say its all psudo science, but I've been driving through Wy now for almost 20 yrs, and yes way back then, there wasn't any wind, it was just a quiet and peaceful place to always be in. But not no more, its a wind tunnel, and even if you start to notice, the clouds themselves are hanging lower than they ever used to. But look at it this way, going East, you'll have a tailwind that will propel you though the entire state. Your fuel mileage will get a big kick. Instead of fighting a headwind going West and having your fuel mileage suck.

If you can swing by Troutdale terminal and pick up some of that discounted fuel, maybe save $35 bucks and it takes the sting off that $50+ Vehicle Mileage Tax Oregon charges.

I'm coming out of Livermore CA going to Miami FL, will have to deahead up to GA or NC for my next load though. This one is only 22,000 pounds.

It was not Cabala's going to Sidney, but Oshkosh. Just 603 miles, 1500 today until 1500 tomorrow, and there is no real freight in NE now. Every time that I have been there they like to stick me on a Portland load. I was supposed to be on Cabala's dedicated out of WI, but when got to SLC that night waiting to get a load to WI, the manager changed his mind and did not bother to tell me. Found out the next morning. Not even my DM was told about the change.

You buy fuel in Oregon you're actually compounding the tax sting. You're paying up to a $.81 per gallon hidden tax.
