Edwardsville KS
Pretty uneventful load other than the pickup time was 0830 and the delivery was 2130 450 miles away. I was a little worried about live unload but luckily it was drop and hook and the hook was loaded already, just created a problem with empty and loaded call. I wasn't sure to put the trailer number I was picking up in the empty call because it was loaded, so I didn't. Then I clicked Arrived and Loaded call, system says, 'you didn't drop a trailer' so had to call it in.
It's 11F degrees here, Abby still takes her sweet time sniffing every single bush trying to find the perfect ones to pee on like its a Spring day or something.
Good night from...

Demming, TX. I am so tired of these winds for the last 8 days, plus the hills and long upward inclines. The best that I have seen in this time, 6.4MPG. Since leaving Irvine, 6.1. It is putting a large hit on my bottom line. By the time that I deliver this load on Tuesday, the nearest that I can figure, for 3600 miles, I have burned close to an additional 100 gals of fuel.
scottied67 and fr8monkey Thank this. -
Gillette WY Small showers here at the hook, busted the cleaning guy dancing and singing to some 90s boy band... Boy was he ever red faced.

Back in Chicago westside. Yes I had a heavy load going into the wind yesterday, was showing 5.9 mpgs. Today coming back about half the weight and a tail wind thankfully. I bought an extra 50 gallons against the run, but that was because the temperatures here are dipping below 15 at night. With the new qualcomm I can see the fuel temperature and idle accordingly. About anytime I need to get up for the facilities, just idle it for about an hour to be safe.
Mac 30 shows a nice 1300 mile run. Problem, it lands on Thursday. Problem, I only have 1600 miles for this week so far. Problem, 1600 miles was what I got last week. So asked about tcalling it enroute, they said accept the load first then we will work on asking a planner for tcall opportunities. Umm, don't think so. See what else pops up.fr8monkey Thanks this. -
Where is this?
I looked, but I don't see it.
I am getting to around 15 degrees tonight, with a wind chill of -2.
Swift said that at those temps to just idle the truck, but also to keep idle time at 18%.
I am always razzed about my idle time, even though I spend so much time in either very hot or very cold temps. -
Where you at Moosetek?
OK shucks, my qualcomm is off right now so going off memory, I think hit Settings/VDS then scroll down for fuel temperature. Like last night after about 8 hours shut down the fuel was about 34 degrees F. I took Abby for a walk while it idled, I got back it was 26 minutes off duty the temp had come up to 47F or something. I put my throttle stick on at 1000 rpms and went back to bed and got up about 1.5 hours later, fuel temp was 144F by then. My question, at what temp does the fuel start to gel? -
-
I have heard some say that it will start to gel at 20 degrees F and will be totally gelled at 0 degrees. Most drivers and fuel experts say that you dont have to worry until it is 15 degrees or lower. That's ok by me. My truck will be on idle shutdown override when it hits 32 degrees.scottied67 and Buttercup Thank this.
