99 is worse now than it was when I moved to CA in 1975. Taking I-5 to Buttonwillow to 58 adds a few miles but it is easier on the bones and fewer CHP. They also ignore you up to 60mph out there but the local LEOs on 99 use trucks as "revenue enhancement".

Goodyear, AZ, hotel here. Seeing lots of stickers on cars, Indians Parking. Spring Training. Once I dropped, was able to see a few different offers on MAC 30. Saw one from Mira Loma to Ft. Worth, called DM and asked, told me to take it. Already have another pplan from Ft. Worth back to Cols. Get home on Saturday, and have 2600 miles for the week. Finished SIMS, and that is 1 hour of my life that will not get back.

I'm at the T+A, boy you were right about the humidity here. I have a portable air conditioner on the truck, the little hose that lets out the condensation is filling up a gallon jug about every 2 hours. Not too bad, last year in south Florida I had to dump the water every hour.

99 isn't too bad in most spots lol. There's talk of renaming it an interstate so it would qualify for federal dollars, then you will see a nice smooth road.
My advice, don't go over 58 miles per hour in California ever. In fact, I usually set it at 54 to accommodate the little downhill bunny slopes where you invariably gain a little speed.

I was wondering the same thing. Understood he was going for the mentor trick was curious how that all was going.

Laredo, kinda low on hours will see what's shaking out of here.

Went in to buy some MegaMillions, they are fresh out of the little tickets you color in for your numbers. It's OK even if I had won $540 million, I would still keep on truckin'....

    Rawlins, WY.

Got fuel, hit I80, and a few miles down the road the engine de-rates and I slow to ~35.
Pull it to the side and call on-road, they send me back into town to a repair shop.

They can't get to it before tomorrow morning so I got a room at the Days Inn.
My load is being re-powered, to be picked up tonight between around 10 and midnight.

I can't wait to get rid of this lemon truck.
In fact, I was supposed to have it in Phoenix by tomorrow to trade it in.
Had to give up most of my home time this week to try and get it there on time.

Pilot, FT. Worth. This has been a day of messed up pplans trying to get home. One to Springdale, AR. One to Salem, VA, one to Shreveport then Memphis, (220 mt and 320 ldd), then finally a decent one, Dallas and t-call in Col, then voided, then pu Wilmer to Sealy, then over to Baytown to pu going to Hebron, OH. Del on the 2nd. I will be at JFK on the 2nd. Finally a Radio Shack load outta Ft. Worth (pu 1700, they are trying to change the pu time), and then t-call in Cols. I should be home sometime Sat night. Going to be darn busy on Sunday trying to get everything finished. What a day.

We don't fuel at the Little America's so I never got a shower there.

    Big mistake.

I was in desparate need of one, so I broke down and paid the ten bucks.

Guess what I found in the shower room? (I never even stepped into the shower, once I saw what I was in store for.)

Not a simple paper mat for the floor, or even a towel.
    But, an oval shag rug.

    And even better?
    A garden style, huge....

    BATHTUB!!!!
