Lancaster will be my permanent overnight from now on. After subbing on the shuttle for the last 6 months the position finally opened up full time and I accepted it. Now I just need to find cheap housing in the area as I am not giving up my home some 95 miles away and will have to give up my OTR truck for a day cab.
I had also looked into the possibility of taking an instructor job at the Swift Driving Academy moving to Corsicana from San Antonio. I even interviewed for the job but bowed out when the shuttle became permanent. Pay was a big factor... I have already made 2/3 of what the instructor job pays yearly in only 6 months of shuttle driving.scottied67, Wilma, bluebonn and 1 other person Thank this. -
My live unload ran a little long yesterday so I arrived around 1130 at the next shipper which Swift (Plus1) had said was an 1100 appointment. The nice lady told me my actual appointment was set for 1500. Wow, thanks business partner, if I had known that I wouldn't have started my clock at 0100 and raced down 390 miles in the hopes to be unloaded quick enough to make that 1100 appointment.
No worries, though, just parked on site and returned about 1430 and the nice lady was gone but there was a guy in her seat with meth scabs all over his arms and his entire body was shaking. He of course couldn't find the load, so back to the truck and message/calling Swift for a solution returned finally at 1700 and talked to another nice lady who said I was late. I didn't even get into a dock til 2100 and loaded at 2300. I was so wiped out tired from being awake all day trying to figure this all out. I lay down for a couple hours and got up and hit the road about 0200. Broke off 500 something miles today, GPS says 14 hours til final and my Summary says 16 hours left on 70 with 1:45 falling off on delivery day lol. So in the long run, running 68 instead of 58 the last 2 days will work out for the load, so I'm not mad at you this time Plus 1.

Troutdale really is sucking it up... I sat more than I ran while in the northwest. Which sucks when you are only 160 miles from home...
Rawlings going to Provo... Way too much time on this load... Just glad I'm not sitting in Denver all day Sunday. -
At the Denver terminal parked on the street as usual. Picking up in the morning in Golden...AND it's NOT a beer run! Less than 10,000 lbs headed to Commerce, CA (east LA). Doesn't deliver until Tuesday @ 1300, unless I can work out a swap with Fontana (I t-call mine early and deliver something they have instead) I'm gonna be 2 days late for hometime with my family.

Got a pplan hours before I got to Gas City, IN yesterday for a 10k load of fiberglass insulation going from Indy to Madill in southern OK. Parked behind a Marathon last night and when I get to shipper this morning found out load was double dispatched to me and a L/O. When the dust settled he got the load and I got to pu another identical load 25 miles away in Shelbyville going to Lanett, AL. Truck likes these light loads; 8.3mpg with 20k and so far 9.6 with 10k. I'm at a Loves near Murfreesboro, TN on I24.

Swift scheduled you at 1100 ... you loaded out at 2300. Swift owes you 10 hrs of detention.
Yakima, pu tomorrow going to AZ. Too much time on this load, hoping for an early delivery or tcall.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Thanks Mystic, I will hound them when it doesn't show up on my settlement like usual lol.
There was some debate earlier in the thread about the accuracy or lack thereof of Swift fueling facilities. I can attest that the Albuquerque fuel aisle #4 is accurate. I had topped off in Las Vegas and again in Albuquerque. The qualcomm reported that I had burned 89 gallons of fuel. In Albu the tanks took 84 gallons. But before you think about the 5 gallon discrepancy, remember the qualcomm tracks from the moment of dispatch til the moment of empty call. So I drove for about 25 miles before topping off and idled at the shipper for a while (not too long, but still) all that could account for the 5 gallons
Overall I would say you're getting a fair shake at the terminals.
