Here at S. Sioux City, NE. Del in Sioux City, but both the truck stops there are closed. One is becomming a Pilot, the old TH, and the Harbor Plaza is becoming a Loves. The weird thing, they shut down within one month of each other.
Latest on the power outage back home, possibly July 8th, and then have power back. Luckily there is lots of dry food in the home for Susan. She is going to hate having to throw all of that food out in the fridge and freezer.
Good night from...

Harrisburg North Carolina doing a 10 at stop 01.
This load is coming out of Albany New York, almost all along the way, the CB has been alive with reports from the northbounders about the extreme heat, storms and power outages in the region we southbounders were heading toward.
One old timer was telling us to top off our fuel before we hit Virginia. Sage advice it turns out, 4 wheelers and truckers alike along I81 were desperate for fuel. I pulled off at White's for a shower, but no power. Went on down the road to Lee Hi (?) they had power but the shower kiosk was down and so were the credit/debit readers. Long lines of truckers and 4 wheelers trying to pay for their fuel with cash, 4 of us were standing there with our shower bags stinking up the joint when the guy behind the counter made an executive decision and whisked us to the showers and opened up 4 right away for us due to the fact we were scaring off the customers lol.inkeper Thanks this. -
I lived in Houston when Hurricane Ike came through in September, 2008. The electric company had been lax about trimming trees away from their power lines in the neighborhoods due to the right of way being people's back fence line with difficult access. The greatest damage was due to trees destroying hundreds of miles of power lines and I was without power for 13 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes. I owned a residential remodeling company and having a generator helped although the noise of that thing braying 24 hours a day was painful. Two days after the storm I had to go searching for gas and passed supermarkets that had stacked ice cream and other frozen food in their parking lots near drains.

At the El Paso terminal. I need at least 600 miles just to break even for the week, was told that ELP is overbooked. We'll see.
It's hot (upper 90s) here but to someone who has endured the last 3 summer in Phoenix everything is relative. Decided not to head for a hotel, gonna spend a bit of precious diesel instead. I can tolerate sleeping with the sleeper in the upper 80s as long as there is air moving. Will hang out in the driver's lounge til about 9:30, super cool the sleeper, then try sleeping. -
A hotel would probably be at least $50.
At $4 per gallon that would be 12.5 hours of idling time at a gallon per hour.
Newer trucks don't do more than .7 gph.
And fuel is cheaper than that right now. -
Concord NC Kenworth. Sprung a coolant leak in the sleeper heater control valve. Had them look at the A/C as well because it works fine in the sleeper but pumps out about 80 - 100 degrees up front.

Concordia, MO. What a fun day. Loaded at a place that is worse on trailer inspections than Golden. Was sent to a trailer repair place to have a small rivet hole filled and have the trailer blown out since they found some aluminum shavings in the cracks on the floor. T-Calling in St. Louis since my del date was changed until Thursday, then grab a load outta Neely and take it to AR for a Wednesday drop. Worked out great. I just realized, short haul pay on these two loads. 550 miles and 359 miles. YeeHaw
