Got my load delivered in Newark NJ coming from Billings MT. I decided to carry the load over to Thursday rather than make delivery before Wednesday midnight. This was one of those receivers that I hate. Tight quarters down on the port, Swift directions right to the front door but you end up wasting 20 minutes before you discover receiving is on the next street over. Go over there and the line to get in is 300 yards long, no room to get in line, try to park on the side of the road but there are two police cruisers patrolling around, CB says keep it moving. Circle the block in LO gear creeping along and come back around, the line moved up and another truck got in line which would have been my spot. So I get a wild idea to pull in such a way on the adjoining customer's lot and jackknife my tractor so my trailer isn't over the railroad tracks. Then the proprietor comes out screaming and ranting like a banshee that I need to move. I get in and play the game that I suck at backing out, back up 2 feet, go forward 2 feet, basically stalling for time. This guy is getting irate lol. Finally the line moves up and I get in line.
Then I go check in, they have 2 lines Import and Export. I'm delivering so I stand in Import line for 45 minutes behind the crowd. Turns out in New Jersey language Import means they are sending freight out on trucks, I need to go stand in Export for freight coming in, shoulda known lol, 45 more minutes. Meanwhile when I go back out my truck is still in the back of the line, several trucks have moved up around mine and are next next next for a dock door, so more and more waiting for me yay.
Picking up a load soon going south to Tennessee. -
Sitting in Denver. Show up at customer and they say, you are early, your appt is 0800, not 0600, so okay, I will go back on the street. Then they tell me, way early, appt 10/08 at 0800. Send a msg, heading to the yard, del not until 10/8, tell me to stay and wait for CSR, and now it has been 2.5 hours waiting, 3.5 miles from the yard. Been doing a MAC 30, and nothing. I did receive a msg, the computer says that 0600. Well, the customers computer shows 10/8. I tend to believe the customer.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Well finally at 1300 they decided that the appt was not going to happen until 0800 on the 8th, so now at the terminal. MAC 30 shows one load for morning, 2 stopper for WY on Monday morning, but only 690 miles. Think that I am going to wait until later and see what pops up. Saw my settlement today, a big whopping $2.00, but that is after all expenses and 2 hours of detention, and only 711 loaded miles and 170 mt miles. If it was not for topping off on Monday, with a pplan t-calling in OKC, then it would have been about $240 more. You can make it as a L/P. Keep in mind, I just came out of the home, so at least the truck payment was covered. If it would have been t-called in OKC, then it would have been 980 ldd and 25 mt.

Went to shipper after my drop in Fresno for a quicki down to the Rail Yard in LA. Woulda made a good week for pay adding an extra 250 miles onto Tuesdays check... But... Shipper took 7 hours to load me... Which means I didn't send my Lcall untill after I was suposse to Tcall. Delivered thursday morning. Had about half a day left on my clock only to be sent loads that cold only PU after my 14 finished. Went to Fontana to talk to a face rather than a computer, asked for a load that was ready to roll. Oh Yea, get one that is at MiraLoma, so I skidattle on over there through traffic, only to find out it hasn't even been PU from shipper yet... So it gets to MiraLoma after my 14 runs out... Now I what woulda been a nice setup for a load out on Friday morning turned in to my PtA being for Sarurday after running 520miles to live unload at the end of the day... Also, I spent he night at MiraLoma rather than Fontana with no shower... Dum *** planners
