No, he was on the night crew, real cool country guy. The below 20 degrees thing it was his supervisor that said that.

Stuck here in this blizzard at the Peelot in Osceola. If wanted to move could not. Stepdeck with container tried to pull into a spot last night or this morning and jackknifed and got stuck. Almost got the front end of another KW. Looking at his truck, no traction on his drive tires. Definately not DOT legal. The truck on my left nosed into parking, and he is not able to back out due to the stuck truck, and I can can clear him to pull out. Have not a clue when I am going to get outta here. Looks like not home for Xmas. Wife will be upset and hurt. It would be our first Xmas together in 7 years of waiting for her to get here from China.

The 'really' bad storm yesterday eased up early and I had a pretty nice drive from Salt Lake.
I really squeeked by. I left late enough to miss the storm and deliver in Westminster last night. I checked the roads a couple hours later and I-80 was closed between Laramie and Cheyenne.

Picked up a live load late this morning in Aurora and t-called it, then headed for TA.

This morning around 0630 I was sent another pplan, picking up at the terminal after my t-call and delivering about 10 miles away - live unload.

I said no, and told them that I was supposed to be on home time after the t-call and that I had already made plans.
Nothing was said, either on the qcom or when I t-called the load.

Despite the frigid temps last night I DIDN'T idle my truck and had no trouble getting started this morning. Only ran the Wabasto about 1/3 the way up and kept the cab about 65 degrees, right where I like it for sleeping.

At the Fontana terminal. Deliver tomorrow morning @ 8:00 am then it's off to pick up a beer load in Van Nuys. The beer is headed for El Paso but I'm t-calling it in PHX them home for a week. If the load is legal first try (last one wasn't) I'll be home tomorrow night.

Maybe it's shop time for the Wabasto?

Mine works with the engine running or not.
It is a bit narrow minded though.
All the way down it will blow cold, but anything more than a 9 o'clock position and it will be full heat on - all the time.
A very narrow range to control it, but I've learned how it works.

I got this truck, basically, brand new. Only 2200 miles on it when I got it.
And, this is the frst truck that had a Wabasto that I could actually control properly.
Every other truck, it either didn't work at all or it was all or nothing. It was either full heat until I turned it off, or I idled the truck and used the regular heater.

But maybe some of that was that I simply didn't understand how it actually worked.
Like I said, it is a very narrow range. Just a few clicks from full off to full on.
The usual range of left-bottom around to right-bottom to get from cold to hot doesn't apply. It's from 0600 to 0900 for the full range.

It's the way all the new Prostars are set up... I feel there was nothing wrong with leaving it on untill the last minute... I idled all night and the water gauge cooled way way down.... There was basically no heat after the truck had been running for 12 hours... Then it kept wanting to go I to high idle... Sucky!

Did you have the AC on also?
It'll ice up and prevent any airflow.

Let's see, we were in Georgia yesterday looking at preplans. They were all pick up in the next states over like Alabama or Tennessee and take to the snow storm in places like Kansas City, Chicago, St Joseph, and Denver. All those were given a 'no thank you'. Then there were 2 that were tcalls in Memphis and Edwardsville. Didn't feel like playing the 'find an empty trailer game' that comes with tcalling so those were a 'no'. Then I got a preplan for Ft Wayne Indiana so I took it thinking it was far enough east of the storm to be a smooth run. 555 mile run with live load and live unload with one 10 hour break in between, but doable if the customer hustles. So far I am 630 loaded miles invested into this load at 5.9 miles per gallon and still 12 miles from final and completely out of hours. They rescheduled this JIT load for me instead of threatening a service failure like last time thankfully.

Lots of wrecks coming up out of Chattanooga all the way up I75 (google maps suggested I65 but I thought to skirt as far east as to avoid the snow-NOT), lots of snow and slick spots. Evidently Werner wrecked it up pretty good in Choo choo town, that's where I took at 8 hour sleeper due to moving 3 hours for only 87 miles- big waste of fuel and my 70 hour clock. Moving up north saw plenty of 4wheelers and several big trucks spun out off the road. I pretty much kept it in 8lo 47-54 miles per hour most of the way, but a lot of impatient truckers thought it was safe enough to go the speed limit anyway, johnny law didn't think so.... One daycabber passed me up and was tailgating a K9 police cruiser! I thought the cop might do something about it but he spotted a 4wheeler with what looked like a cell phone up to the side of his head and pulled him over.

Live unload in the morning and Maryland is next.
