Greer
2 days ago I was Augusta when my DM messaged me early in the A.M.to take the next load , T call
it in Greer and get a new truck.
I waited all day for the 4 pm pick up and got to Greer about 7.
The next morning ( yesterday ) I got my new truck .
I guess Swift's definition of " new " is one I'm not familiar with as my " new " truck has
450.000 miles on it , the AC is for crap , hadn't been cleaned and the Qcom works when it wants to.
Hell the truck I had had less miles on it and everything worked.
When I called my fleet manager ( DM is out for the week ) I was told that my old truck was
a " trade truck " and to take it . The peeps here said the same thing adding that if I refused it
they wouldn't know how long it would be till another truck was available.
Needless to say I've been sitting here watching driver after driver walk out the door with a
set of keys to a new truck.
As for getting the AC fixed , forget it.
There is a sign on the garage door saying they have a 3 day backlog and are only
working on trucks that would have an issue with the dot , and if rolls to take it somewhere else
I've had enough of this insanity.
I'm renting a car in the morning and headed home.
Good night from...

I don't know how, but I really lucked out today.
I picked up a beer load in Eden, NC - 45k+ - but couldn't weigh it until my fuel stop. It was the first place, but there was a scale house a couple miles before.
I guessed at the tandem setting, and went through with a green light. A green on the actual scale!
When I got to Love's my tandems were at 34,880. -
Here in Lamar, CO. Del in the morning. Looks like both of us need a 34. For the next 3 days he only has 18 hours. I have been over my 70 now for 2 days. Doing a Mac 30, and there was one that I was thinking about, said yes and it was gone. MAC 30 later, and 3 offers, all 3, PU Amarillo, 45K, going to AL to Tuesday morning. 900 miles. Not touching any of those. Will end the week with about 1800 miles. Oh, all three had del appt, 4/16, 00:01

Got pulled into a a weigh station today in Wisconsin. No brake lights on the trailer. Not a biggie as it was just a blown fuse. During the ensuing inspection he had me fax him my logs. Did any of you know that we are not allowed to edit our elogs at all? It was news to me. When I asked him what we are supposed to do if we forget to do a change of duty or something, he just said "don't forget".
I told him that was easy for such a young guy to say....he just looked sheepish. He said if we make a mistake we need to call safety and have them edit the logs and note why.
I swear they are trying to regulate us all into another profession. -
LOL ... just got a load offering 50,834 lbs ... think it's supposed to be for a flatbed. KY headin' to OH
-
I doubt we would be able to if it wasn't allowed - just like with the Drive line, which is not allowed.
Did you get any log violations? -
If any driver were allowed to run WhiteOut on their paper logs, they can certainly [Edit] their Electronic Logs.
Don't challenge the guy with the gun to prove to you where exactly in the little green book it says the driver is not in 100% charge of his logs. Just be quiet and express a 'wow I had no idea' body language. I got pulled in the other day, they had me fax the logs, there were some edits in there but she never said anything about them, or anything else about my logs, just handed them back to me.
So we made it to Sumner nice 12 hour day, nice and tired, haven't slept that deep in a long time. Salt Lake City for Monday, will be getting truck serviced under the load and be ready for next week yay. -
Owensboro, KY.
Delivered at around noon today after about 7 hours of driving, and set my PTA to 1330 with 4 hours left to drive.
Headed to Walmart and got a pplan on the way there.
Pick up a live load 44 miles away (about a 1.25 hour drive) at 2300 tonight. It also had 2.5 days to go less than 600 miles.
I swear, someone is smoking something.
Or maybe it's a computer virus?
It seems no one can figure when a 10 is needed, not to mention how to even count 10 from now.
A bit later I get another plan picking up at the same place tomorrow at 1100 going to IL by 0600 the next day.
Drop and hook at both ends.
Took that one.
And then I'll have to start getting myself routed to Sacramento CA for home time next Friday.scottied67 Thanks this. -
You do not get to see John unless you flunk a Phoenix road test or HIT SOMETHING (like I did). John's class should be MANDATORY for all new hires.

That's too heavy even for flatbed. My heaviest load (when flatbedding) was 49,800 lbs of lumber, ended up 80,300 and that was with a short wheelbase Columbia with an aluminum flatbed.
