But I dropped my trailer with the tandem set in the second hole, 11,640, 33,160 and 33,220! Who moved my setting?!?
(jk, Scottie)
Some folks don't understand there are two measurements states use to determine bridge law:
From kingpin to the center of the rear axle (California)
or
From the kingpin to midway between the tandem axles. (Almost everywhere BUT California)
So that o/o is right...it is 40. According to TN.Last edited: Feb 14, 2011

The T-call sheet specifically asked if the trailer was set at 40 feet for California legal. The driver who dropped the trailer circled the Y in response hence his pending service failure. I suspect the guy just wanted to Tcall it because he knew it was too heavy and thus just wanted the quick payday and hoped/gambled that the next driver would just run with it and it would become their problem. Now Swift will lose a lot of money by having to return the trailer to the shipper for re-work and redelivery which will be late. Swift may suffer from loss of future business from this customer as well due to the incompetence of this driver or otherwise forfeit the cost of shipping for this particular load to keep the customer.
Anyhoo, sitting in Lathrop waiting to get off this truck for hometime and waiting for a free company truck to move into (last I heard they have 20 new hires waiting for trucks here). I guess I might have to go in and sign my life away for that shiny pretty dark charcoal grey T-660 sitting in front of the terminal lol. -
Ol' DickJones says he's thinking about transferring his lease. Heard he was California way. It's a dark red T660.

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong? It's 41' in TN.Injun Thanks this.

I was referring to the way it's measured. But I think I chose the wrong state for domonstration purposes. TN measures to the center of the rear axle, like California. And yes, bridge law in TN is 41'. Thank you for the clarification.
Other states measure their bridge laws to between the trailer axles. TN was a poor choice to use as an example.Rattlebunny Thanks this. -
