Oh what a night was nice and sunny in Denver and start west on I70 and a snow storm came out of nowhere. Drove for the first time in 17 years down a snow covered grade at 20 MPH like everyone else. Trucks getting stuck and so on on east side.
Got to a scenic area where everyone was chaining up realized I only have 90 minutes left to drive and to make the truck stop down the road 75 miles would take me hours.
Na time to go to sleep and hope it's nice and sunny when I wake up. Chain up area in front of scenic area so no problemo with room to chain issues.
Edit{{{{ They just closed I70 westbound right where I am at so I am stuck like chuck.Last edited: Apr 26, 2011
Rattlebunny and Hamshoe Thank this. -
Caldwell, ID at the Stinker Station. There's a little restaurant here that puts on a pretty decent breakfast.
I've been to that Garden City. Spent 48 hours there once while my Prime trailer was being held hostage by Tyson about nine miles away. The critters were taking their sweet time assuming room temperature. It's a nice truck stop, but the food is a little on the expensive side. I like to take a tablespoon of soup or something out for my four-footed security system. They wanted to charge me for a whole buffet for a tablespoon of soup.
But, they do have nice showers and laundry.Hamshoe and Rattlebunny Thank this. -

Not right away but not as bad as the last two times I came home where I sat for almost a week waiting. Let's see, took a load from Phoenix to Stockton CA. Picked up a load 14 hours later and delivered 20 something hours later 323 miles away. Emptied that out this morning and will pick up this next load in L.A. about 22 hours afterwards. So lots of sitting compared to driving. This load is strange on the delivery- says 042911 00:00 which I expect will be changed. It might be tough to get it there by that time because it is heavy and there are mountains and snow up along the way. Nice thing is it gets me out of Cali.
There's definitely activity in California now. Talked to a couple other Swifties at truck stops and docks, one guy was going to Hayward to make a pickup, another was delivering SoCal bbq briquets etc. Another guy was next to me getting loaded with bottled water in Stockton. A common theme with all these drivers is an extreme curiosity about the lease program. They all want to know what it is like and if I think after hearing their life story whether I think they would be successful at it.Hamshoe, fr8monkey and Rattlebunny Thank this.
