I've "stretched" the line 5 rules a couple times and all I got was a Qualcom messages telling me to "review the Swift line 5 rules".

No I wasn't dispatched. I had just dropped at the final and bobtailed out off duty driving. Upon reviewing Swifts guidelines, I see we are not allowed to start "Point A" off duty driving at a customer, but only at our home or a terminal.
So today did a drop in Laredo, no empty trailers, bobtailed on duty driving back to the terminal for off duty 5 minutes then off duty driving to the truck stop and shut down. Safety explained it to me that this is the way to do it, if I want to go shopping tomorrow say, I have to return to the terminal again to complete Point A to Point B back to Point A again then from there go shopping then return back to Point A again before I go to an alternate Point B (truck stop to shut down). -
Take a highlighted copy of the FMCSA regs with you to the log class.

Flying J, Ft Chiswell, VA. Was sent a pplan this morning, pu at Ashley and del to Ashley in Richmond, 200 miles away, on the 3rd. Declined for no miles, home request and no back up. Sat on me for 6 hours. then sent it again with a back up, dh to Georgia Pacific, 113 miles away for a 46K load and del on, oops, no del apt yet at Georgia pacific in Akron, OH, possibly the 4th. Before I even had a chance to decline, get a message within 5 mins of opening, we see you red the message 15 mins ago and already removed.

Like it or not , those regs just show what CAN be done , Swifts regs say what WILL be done IF you want to drive for them.

Went to put some stuff in the truck , re-checked my PTA , thought it was for tomorrow
morning, it weren't , it's for Tuesday morning !
Ya'll be extra careful tomorrow , going to be a bunch of worn out weekenders heading home . -
The setting the PTA out isn't something so nice as spite for ignoring them or inept planners or anything. It's Swift trying not to pay anyone layover pay on this no freight long weekend.

sitting at a truck stop in hawthorn, NV
not a bad location, on one side there is a family dollar and safeway and a pizza place where i had dinner, on the other side a dollar general so I went to all stores and stocked up on some stuff.
They sent me from otay mesa to pick up a clorox load in San Bernardino then tcall it to Mira Loma, I went to Fontana then got a preplan they offered a load picking up from the Walmart DC in mira loma at 23:15 and the message came in at 23:30....I replied stating I would pick up at 10:00 the next morning giving time to find an MT which we know is hard as hell in that area and deliver at the time given, they replied back rescheduled for the times I stated so I went and got it this morning, delivers in Hermiston, OR on the 3rd, im working off my recap right now, got 650 miles to go, 10 hours left on my 70 picking up 25 min tonight lol and then 9 hours tomorrow night, will get at least 500 miles driven tomorrow then finish up after I gain my 9.
Hopefully they find me a load back home since im supposed to go on home time on the 6th.
First they wanted me to deadhead to Otay mesa again for a MT then after I drove 30 miles they start blowing up my phone and qualcomm to turn around and just bobtail in, thought they were not supposed to even be calling us when we are dispatched and driving?
Speaking of recap I ran into a driver in fontana who didnt even know how to use his recap correctly, he states his mentor just had him do 34's every time they ran out of time, I spent a couple minutes explaining it to him and if he does it right he wont ever need a 34, I have driven a month without a 34 and then only did one since Walmart made me before continuing.Last edited: Sep 2, 2013

mira loma terminal. been here since saturday. have to deliver load on tues. at 1000. was at fontana terminal for a bit to do laundry and shower. then headed here since i keep my pv here. visited my mom yesterday and other freinds have plans today, so stuck here with nothing to do
. mite have to take time off till thursday morning. had got my mail and had some stuff in it that made me not tooo happy. and every place i needed to talk to to get problem fixed is closed till tuesday. drive safe all

Well, we didn't go shopping in Laredo today, we had gone back to the truck stop with several hours still available and logged sleeper and sent a message for them to find us a load. Got us a nice one coming up out of Mexico to Ontario Canada that we can pick up on the Laredo yard and tcall in New Boston MI. Finished the 8 hour sleeper, picked up the load, ran out a little past midnight then 2 hour break and ran til morning. Some time during the night the Rand McNally GPS lost its signal which was disconcerting. Brought up the Qualcomm's GPS and it was still showing us in Florida. Then all the red lights started flashing like a christmas tree, talking about 'go to paper logs!' OK gotta get some shut-eye, gonna run all night again....
