It has nothing to do with being scared or lazy. It could be that the trucks next to them are reefers and they don't want to hear them, or they have a reefer and are trying to not bother the two next door. It could be something as simple as just liking the view out of the windshield. It could be that they want to crank up the stereo to uncomfortable levels for you and me. Is it a pain for us when we have to help them back out instead of in? I don't do it myself but know lots of guys that do for the above reasons. Also in some cases it may be a female looking for some extra privacy. I don't care one way or the other...as long as they don't hit my truck, they can park anyway they want between the lines.
Good night from...

I nosed in last night just because my anxiety wouldn't let me circle around to set up for the back as someone might else nose in to the spot. These are angled slots so getting back out will be easy.
OK on the service failure front, they gave it to me even though I argued that the load was 500 miles but the load assignment showed 400. Reason I got was I should have trip planned it and turned it down. Wow.
The next load I arrived to get and they had no record of, turns out the CSR never booked the load so therefore may not be eligible for detention pay since there never was a load to begin with. Then got a message (this is yesterday, Monday) that the load had been rescheduled for Thursday (600 miles). Got it voided.
Next load accepted 85 mt miles but the route was closed due to road work, followed the detour for 2.5 hours to shipper for live load, live unload next day at 1500 no window, my GPS was showing 0400 arrival, add 10 hours break to that plus 2 30 minute breaks, pretrip and fuel and possible DOT Operation Brake check inspection through one of the many scales I have to go through and West Virginia mountains etc plus scaled it and had to adjust a few holes and reweigh, time ticking ticking, sent mac22. Why did you accept the load?? Why can't the planner catch a clue they work for a trucking company and the drivers have to adhere to hours of service?
Anyway did my 10 hour break just now, start my pretrip then a message comes in that they reschedule for 2000, had to quickly edit back to off duty for a few hours as that would have been very close to the end of the 14. Would have liked that info last night or something, could have slept in.

got a load that p/u here in san antonio tx at 1100 today and delivers 0001 09/12. they sent it to me last nite and sent a mac 9 saying i can deliver it 09/11 1500. they said no. and sent it rite back. i ignored it and went to sleep. woke up this mornimng to see it was taken off me. went in and got coffe and got a text for another preplan. same load again.sent a mac 9 saying i"ll deliver at 0800 09/12. said i rejected it once to call my dl. so i just accepted it. going to haul but and try to deliver it early like i wanted too. hopefully i can do a ten and deliver at midnite if they won't take it. wanted this 600 miles on this pay

also, this load says not paying mt miles and i'm 27 miles away from shipper. they said since i was dispatched my last drop in san antonio, that theres no mt miles

wolfy...good luck on interview

thanks will see how it goes
I am tired of getting screwed on miles, like half my loads the past month I lost close to 100 each and they weren't long hauls....same with MT miles, had one last week 36 miles away, 3 mt paid plus 1026 loaded but actually close to 1100 -
I had a situation a few days ago when i was heading home(already committed to a plan). a local dedicated driver dropped off a load in the area and they were trying to force to me to take it, only 68 miles, w/ 2 stops plus short haul pay(which is all well and good). however if i had taken it i wouldn't have had enough hours on my 70 to make it home and was 2 1/2 days from recapping. only had about 2 hours to spare on my trip home. You have to be very aware of things like that i have learned.
Had i taken that short haul that paid decent, i would have had to sit about 100 miles from home for over a day to get home. Kind of interesting story i thought.
just wanted to share.Last edited: Sep 10, 2013

and on top of that the plan didn't deliver until yesterday but i had home time for Saturday set for weeks. my DL tried to make me sit on it until Monday, I had to contact a different DL in the fleet to get a tcall set. I hate how impersonal they can be at times.

i feel you on this one. I HATE, HATE that they always short the miles. We probably lose $300 a month from that. Swift says they pay us for the same miles they charge the customer. but come on, swift is gonna leave money on the table? This is Swift we are talking about. I call ########. But what are you gonna do i guess.
I dont hate swift, im glad to have a decent paying job. but that bugs me a lot -
Swift isnt decent paying lol but they are not the worst company to work for. I bet they charge the customer actual miles
I hope the interview goes well for me, its actually not a driving job but a management job close to home with more than double the money I make with Swift plus bonus's and most important I can be home daily with my wife and kids. I even cleaned up for this, my goatee was getting several inches long, now its real short and I even shaved instead of leaving stubble
