A warning is NOT a charge or a summons. It is a piece of paper you might want to frame because truck drivers don't see them much. It is funny to me that after thousands of threads and posts on this subject these myths still get recycled.

My last company actually advised the drivers to never sign a warning as it makes it hard to fight.
The company and driver WILL be assessed points.

@Sharno was the warning written on a form that reads Driver/Vehicle Examination Report?

If so they that will be reportd to your company. Usually there will be details on it to have your carrier sign and return the Driver/Vehicle Examination Report within 15 days.

A warning written on a D/VER is impossible to fight. An actual violation listed is fightable but remember the way we fight it, we write up our argument against the violation then it is sent right directly back to the very same officer who wrote the violation on the D/VER.

It has come down to the professional driver is expected to do everything by the book to the letter exactly to avoid violations. There was even a driver who got a logbook falsification violation because he showed 10 hours off duty even though he drives a sleeper truck.

With several exceptions that really don't apply to this THE ONLY WAY THE FMCSA GETS INFORMATION ON A VIOLATION IS FROM AN INSPECTION REPORT ISSUED BY A MCSAP/CVSA/DOT OFFICER. Tickets and warnings issued by non MCSAP/CVSA/DOT officers don't get reported. In I know at least 5 threads this has been linked to. There is a fantastic JJKeller link about it.I also am seeing TTR favorite troll going on about potty breaks too. Jeez when will some of you take the time to be informed and stop scaring these new drivers with dribble, hyperbole and out and out myths,.

I'll take a ticket over a warnin ANY day.. I can get a ticket reduced and dismissed where no one knows.. a warning can't be fought and will be on your driving record

ONLY IF THE VIOLATION IS PART OF AN INSPECTION REPORT ISSUED BY A MCSAP/CVSA/DOT OFFICER!
