A ticket/citation is a form where a cop makes a complaint that someone has broken the law. It is only a summons. It is not an admission of guilt if you sign it. It is just your promise to appear later on the date specified on the ticket itself. You MUST take care of this issue or more serious things will happen later. A warning either in verbal or written form is an officer telling you in essence (today you in my opinion broke the law) I'm giving you a break and not making a case. NO case is made. I DEFY anyone in here to post an image of a warning with instructions on it to make any actions later other then a promise to not violate the law further. I DEFY you to do it! I am talking about warnings only NOT warnings accompanied by an inspection that has to be reported.

I don't know anybody at Sodrell trucking but I will send them an email with a link to this thread. I happen to know someone in con ways safety dept. It's been a few years since I heard anything from her but I will see if she still works there.

When I wrote a warning it just got files away for a year. There is no way anyone besides me and the driver who "knew". Know this warning may be different in that aspect. But OP you are very lucky at that speed you only got a warning.

I am not sure but I heard the NCHP actually did away with their paper warnings as a cost saving measure.

Wow... This thread would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Way too many misinformed drivers out here.

The ones that kill me are the "turn yourself in or you will be fired crowd" I am guessing Megacarrier trained.

Warning from a small town officer, no inspection, no points, roll on.

The warnings I'm talking about come with a Driver / Vehicle Examination Report which are not fightable and they will impact the driver's PSP report.

The problem we have here is the original poster's thread title "Got a written warning...." but he doesn't say for sure if it was a local municipal warning or a federal D/VER warning.

A local warning is just a friendly reminder to slow down in their town.

Any warning on a D/VER carries as much penalty as the final violation conviction on the driver's PSP and can have a negative affect on getting a new/better paying job. I should know, I was stuck at Swift for 3 more years than I wanted to be due to a poor PSP report.

I think we're gonna need a few hundred more replies before we sort this whole thing out. In the meantime the OP should probably turn himself in to local authorities and loose his CDL for life.

Maybe it's just me, but someone tells me they got a written warning, I assume they got a written warning, someone tells me they got an inspection, I assume they got an inspection.

15 minutes after the original post the OP clarified and said no inspection.

Some officers, much like truck drivers will just pencil whip an inspection. The proper question is did the officer write the warning on a D/VER?

But I will move over to the camp on this thread that says, don't worry about the local yokel warning. Just to be safe though he should log 10 hours in the Sleeper to be sure.
