Anyone that's listen to the advice on not giving a two week notice is likely less intelligent than the one giving the advice! Why stoop to anyone else's level, be a better man, or woman if that's the case, give the two weeks, if employer chooses to not continue? Just move on

If the driver is earning $0.50 a mile and loses 2 weeks at 2500 miles a week after tendering 2 weeks notice, that's $5000 bucks lost on the yearly gross that will have to be made up.

who would return to a place they quit? Talk about groveling and being in bad situation, they would have you beaten in no time.

I spent years OTR, and when the time came I needed to move on, I have always gave notice, I had to leave some jobs do to family emergencies, and returned after everything was back to normal, why cut your own throat? I'd rather be above the childish ones, so when I look in a mirror? I like what I see, but that's just me!

maybe so, burned bridges type of thing right?

In my short work career (started in '94 at the tender age of 15). I have had only two jobs that didn't say to come back anytime.
My last one was with a company I gave a months notice to. Since I had a run that required extensive training to do. They have called me three times in the last year since I left, because the driver I trained and two others who took over that run couldn't make it. It was too much work for them.
I have always given at least two weeks notice and not been treated any differently by coworkers. Some were happy that I was leaving, and others were not.Diesel Dave, xlsdraw and rachi Thank this. -
