Anyone try the pc miler app for smart phones? I was thinking of getting it but for 150 bucks I was wanting to see if anyone had it, see if it was worth it.

Saw a program on tv last week about the "Dragon's Tail"
http://www.tailofthedragon.com/
The commentary spoke of how GPS will route unsuspecting drivers into this "hell road". That's the problem for a rookie; you don't have the judgement/experience to know when the electronics are misleading you until it's too late. -

Garmin Dezl is awesome.
You can get the lifetime update on Amazon cheaper then you can buy the non lifetime update version at truck stops. -
Magellan has a new one coming out in Feb. that is truck specific, expect to pay about $400.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Why don't you mute it? I don't know how people listen too those things. I muted mine the day I bought it.

I had a trainer that had the Rand Mcnally and he NEVER updated it...dang thing got us lost ALL THE TIME! My second trainer had one as well, he DID update it from time to time....it was ok....but wanted us to go crazy routes without going straight from A to B. I got a smartphone with Boost Mobile and for $150(half the price of a gps) I bought the CoPilot Truck Live android app and it is awesome! Get's me exactly where I wanna go....It updates itself(well I set it up this way) everytime I open app up....it does take FOREVER to download maps at first, though. Just do the initial download at home on a GOOD wifi connection and it usually takes a few hours. I downloaded it onto my laptop(maps) and if I reinstall, I just plug in phone and copy and paste maps to phone...no problem! Hope this helps.
