That's how I had mine set. Especially in the summer around here. In fact it was only 30 second delay. Sometimes it would get so hot between the trailer and cab, the auto start wouldn't work and had to switch to manual. It would trip the big breaker as well when it first tried to crank. This was during midday in like July / August, other than that it worked great. -
When I picked up my load on Thursday I was asked when I want to leave, so I told him on Wednesday.
Called in on Tuesday to remind them that I want to leave on Wednesday, "we put you on the list".
Hello? I should be on the list since Thursday
Wednesday at about 13:00 I called in, no load. I told him I'm not sitting near the phone all day to wait for a call just to jump in the truck and leave if he gets a load. Was told Thursday morning.
Got a call Thursday morning, hey, I have a load for you, good miles, but it doesn't pick up before Friday at 11:00.
Then he told me picks up in Dalhart TX for Chicago area, delivers Monday morning.
Before I was getting loud on the phone I hung up
Good miles? From my home to Chicago just 1220 miles in three days, what a joke.
After I calmed down I called in again and wanted to talk to Brent, our CEO.
He was out of the office so I talked to another dispatcher, he's a long time dispatcher with the company.
Told him, here's the deal, I leave on Thursday instead of Friday morning, take my break at the shipper, pick up the load and bring the trailer to the yard Friday night. And he should get me a load heading West for Saturday morning.
He checked everything and called me back a few minutes later, bring it to the yard.
At the yard now and leaving tomorrow morning for three drops in NorCal on Monday.
1220 miles till Monday = bad miles
2600 miles till Monday = good miles
Most weeks are pretty good for me, but there are still some weeks with crappy pay checks.
Had only 1309 miles when I was in the shop for two days, but the next paycheck was 3859 miles
My next paycheck will only be 900 miles cause I was at home for 6 days, longer than I had planned.
January wasn't so good, had only 10777 miles and February is short, will see at the end of the month.
It was hot in TX and OK Panhandle today, 93 F and I noticed that my AC is not cooling enough, another trip to the shop in the next weeks before the hot season starts.
In the manual there's nothing about that. -

Going to swap trailers in Omaha tmw and do a round-trip to souix falls so I will just barely get 2500 paid miles out of the week.
-
Maybe it's the calm before the storm, next week might be 3300.
The Kraut, bzinger and carramrod32 Thank this. -
I had a chat with the head dispatcher this morn and he is going to keep me close to Omaha until weds or Thurs then send me home for a 34 and get me going to the nyc area on Friday when they move most of those loads , hopefully get back into sync where I know where I'm going and when I'll be home .
