Greater omaha express ..thread 2.

Well I sat at cargill 7 hours and then got dispatched on a load to Lincoln ne I had to fly to get picked up in Grafton wis . Complete with mis information on the load time and wrong address .
By now I was pissed and decided it's time to quit wasting my time on dispatch and call mr Falgione ...but only after I cooled off .
So I got Brent on the phone and explained my extreme dislike for short haul work ...again ...and that I hired on here to do the east coast and back ...again .
And he told me he is working on 3 dedicated northeast runs with another packer and we would get together on weds to see with one will work best .
I also told him if I'm going to continue with multi drop loads the drop pay is going to have come up or its not worth my time .
He was receptive to what I had to say and assured me that by the end of the week this would be resolved .
He also explained that we are a prime grade packer and only so many people can afford prime beef and that the market for it is down right now .
And that is why we are starting to haul for choice , select and utility grade packers .
The load I brought to cargill in Milwaukee was a trimmings load from jbs in South Omaha and that plant kills utility cattle mostly for the fast food industry , frozen dinners, canned meat etc .

I spent a few years at h@m and tho I didn't like the direction he helped take the company I liked and respected him and gotta give him credit for knowing how to make h@m a successful company .
He will be very hard to replace .

Well Brent and I had our meeting today and apparently he has connections .
Don't have all the details yet but it appears I'm going on a dedicated run from Omaha to the Bronx market with a back haul out of the fish market eventually .
And what I mean by connections is the Omaha to the Bronx part is for another packer .

 

Well I said id post the good and bad about greater Omaha here .
Bad : did short haul this week and a lot of sitting ..caught a dispatcher lying to me also ..how dumb do they think 32 year tenured drivers are ? Lol
2300 paid miles this week and no east coast load either ...looking the same for next week also .
Brent got back with me this evening and hopefully east coast starts at the end of next week .
This short haul carp sucks and my patience is wearing thin ...
