After my last post I was home on Friday afternoon, but before I had to get a tire fixed in Albuquerque. Was flat in the morning but fortunately the tire inflating system pumped it up.
Left home last week Wednesday, picked up a load in Texas for Missouri. Delivered early in the morning and was empty at 5 o'clock. Had a check engine light on since I left the home and asked dispatch for a load to be early in Omaha on Friday. Was sitting till 11, then I could head near KC to pick up a loaded trailer and bring it to the yard.
Got a load from the plant to NorCal, but had to go to the shop first to get the truck checked. A part had to be replaced and I asked our shop manager, how long it will take. About 1-1.5 hrs. No problem, could still make my delivery on time Monday morning. Then came the decision, I had to go to Volvo to replace the part. Went over and they took the truck right in a door. About 4 (FOUR) hrs later I could leave
Left Omaha after 14:00 on Saturday and was late today for my first stop near Sacramento. Went to Oakland for my second stop, it was rescheduled for tomorrow 05:00 but I asked them if they would take me in today and they did.
Have my last stop at 07:00 around the corner. Asked dispatch if they have something planned for me for tomorrow, answer: we are working on it. I CAN'T HEAR THIS ANSWER ANYMORE
The last months I was sitting after my deliveries too much. Seems that it is not possible to pre plan a load for me before I get empty and I don't have to sit for hrs or a day after delivery. It's always the inbound loads, outbound works pretty good. Last year I went from Omaha to Cali, got back and could reset my hrs, leave again on Saturday with full hrs and was back to Omaha mostly on Thursday. Could reset again, no problems to get the truck in the shop if there was a problem and leave again on Saturdays. Now I have to run on recap hrs most of the time and this ####s up my whole trips
Have problems to get in the shop or to the tire dealer. Need an alignment cause they did one with a perfect running truck, now the truck pulls to the left. Have the second set of retreaded drive tires and the truck is still vibrating cause these tires are crap
Rant over
BTW, it was 80 F today near Oakland, no snow on Donner and the whole trip no big delays.bzinger Thanks this. -
I caught em lying to me several times and communication is a joke .
Road here is closed and already blocked in cause trucks have nowhere else to go .The Kraut Thanks this. -
I don't know what's going on, have no problems with Bill and the outbound loads, but inbound...
Communication for inbound is a joke, it's a one way street...
I'm pretty good with trip planning, I always tell them when I will be there and empty. Seems they start planning when I call in empty and not before
Happened to me now several times, I was sitting and waiting for a load, short before the office closes I called in again, Bill was still in the office, inbound was already gone. They couldn't call me before they leave and let me know what's going on, no, they just go home. Bill got me moving several times before he left for the night.
If this happens to other drivers too, they shouldn't ask themselves why drivers are leaving. If I don't have my 3000+ miles for a full week it's not worth to be out 3+ weeks at a time.
I'm used to run between 12-13000 miles a month including home time and I hope this will be better soon... -
Oh bill lies too and have tripped him up twice in the last few days ...most recently was a few minutes ago when I called the receiver in Philly .
Today bill acted like this was an emergency with box dates and all and had to call the receiver at 6 am with an eta , so I just called the guy and all he was worried about was if he should come to work tmw .
How ###### dumb do the desk jockeys think drivers are ?
I've already learned not to be live anything our dispatchers say .The Kraut Thanks this. -
Just sent em a message and told em you knock of this lyin crap or I'm,gone .
The Kraut and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
Pennsylvania Bans Tandem Trucks, Empty Trailers, On Several Major Interstates
Staring at 10 p.m. tonight, many commercial vehicles will not be allowed on several major interstates.
March 13, 2017
With a heavy winter storm looming, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has issued travel restrictions that will include a ban on some commercial vehicles on all interstates east of I-99.
Starting at 10 p.m. this evening, Governor Wolf’s travel restrictions will go into effect.
The travel restrictions ban “tandem truck trailers, empty trailers, towed trailers, buses, recreational vehicles, and motorcycles” from any interstate or expressway east of I-99. The speed limit on all of these interstates and expressways will also be lowered to 45 m.p.h.
Per the Governor’s office, these interstates include I-70, I-76, I-78, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84, I-283, I-176, I-180, I-476, I-380 and all expressways not on the interstate system.
The same travel restrictions also apply to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Additionally, the Governor’s office has cancelled all super load permits for Tuesday.
As many as 12 inches of snow could fall on some parts of Pennsylvania.
