Greater omaha express ..thread 2.

Was empty at 6 in the morning yesterday. Sitting for 6.5 hrs till I got the call, got a load from Bakersfield this morning at 7. Not really the best time to cross L.A., took me 5 hrs from San Diego to Bakersfield.
Camped at the Flying J and was at the shipper at 7, right in a dock and they started loading
And suddenly it was quiet, no movement in the trailer. After half an hour I went to the office and was told, they are waiting for 5 pallets, 15 minutes or so...
I was finally loaded 3.5 hrs later, another 6 hrs at the shipper
Hope the broker pays a good detention for that...
Have to run like crazy now to make my appointment at 7 Friday morning in Denver.

 

Looks like I'm picking up the slack for you, on my way to Hunt's Point now, Friday delivery.

Went by your office today, and they have a truck on the corner, advertising for one driver only. Pretty good indication, that there are a lot satisfied drivers there. We could use 7 or 8.

 

Think they need more than just one, a few weeks ago Jarrod told me that a few drivers were leaving due to health and family issues.

 

Most time I'm running against the clock or I'm sitting and waiting, and then... running against the clock...
Hope this changes soon, the backloads must improve. If a load is not ready at the plant, it doesn't bother me, then I'm there when I'm there. But these loads back to Omaha or Denver in the last months suck.
Trying to catch some sleep now, good night.

 

I had the same problem this last trip, deliver in the am, load can't be found till an evening pickup, over night run.... repeat. Really drags one done!

 

More than five hours now after my delivery appointment and still waiting for a door!!!
Went back inside and asked what the problem is, very simple answer: "It's all backed up because it's Easter"
