Gyms & Showers

Please tell me you aren't one of those guys that stands at the sink in the men's room and practically takes a shower at the sink! That is what your shower credits are for. Please don't do that

 

A quart of tap water in a repurposed bottle can deliver 90% of the cleanliness of a shower, all while remaining inside or next to your truck. Your mileage may vary.

 

You can easily shower every day at the truck stop and not pay anything. Love's makes it easy. Buy 1,000 gallons of fuel in a month and next month you can have free drink refills and a shower every day next month. Concentrate your fuel purchase at one chain for maximum benefit. Don't waste your reward points for fueling on food. Use your points for the electronics.

"Which fuel stops does this company use" is a good question to ask before you pick a company to work for.

I had a Membership at a national gym while i was on the road, you just have to really trip plan well. Google street view & satellite images are priceless.

another thing to remember is not all of the gyms will have showers, and with all this covid nonsense the showers may not be open.

I had a couple gyms, i could never hit in the daylight, but could easily roll up into late at night.

 

I usually just use water bottles and thick towels in my truck since I'm solo driver . The few times I have washed up inside I basically lather the towel with soap and water and take it into a stall with me . Not at the sink lol. Alot of bathrooms are so nasty or shaky looking I don't even try this but some places are nice enough and not busy enough so I do it inside.

As for showers I park at rest areas alot more often . Probably average 5 days rest area 2 days truck stop . And I don't like paying for showers (which I usually have to unless I'm at a loves and loves are usually the first chain stops to fill up during the day. I also avoid backing in tight spaces in truck stops at night which is asking for trouble ).

I actually prefer running early (ex 0400 to 1800) but my last company it would be very random and skew toward running later due to delivery and pick up times, and waiting for dispatch to clock into office .
