Get a haircut!
It's always a friend, lol.goodchoice10 Thanks this. -
Yes they do....took about half my chest hair to make a big enough sample. Saw a guy once I was at orientation get up and leave the last day. Blew us away he was really positive and gung ho. Seems there was a cocaine hit on the hair sample.

I would have no problem, in general, with the hair sample idea, but it can go clear back several months as the substance could be anywhere in the hair strand. Now this would be a bit over the line in some cases. For instance you could have been in the general proximity of someone smoking pot. You might have been given a pot brownie without your knowing it until after the fact, etc. This could have been several months ago. Whereas a urine sample will generally not tell anything after a week or two, you would be penalized on something that happened several months ago. with no recourse.
I guess the Libertarian in me gets the idea that legalization is not such a terrible idea. We spend untold billions of dollars chasing after things that were totally legal up until the prohibition era of the 1920's. It does seem more and more that all of this is just a money grab by government and a way to increase their control over the population. Sure, I would have no problem with, say, a level testing, that would show if you had used in the last few days. And also testing that showed you were, in fact, impaired while driving just like being drunk. But all this "war on drugs" stuff is costing way more than necessary for the limited results we are getting. We never had a problem before this stuff was made illegal. DARE programs are commically referred to by young people as "drug availability and resource education". There is not real evidence that DARE has had any real effect in curbing drug use.
And the carriers and others have been caught up in the hoopla. I suppose mainly because of insurance companies and government agencies. But there has not been any real evidence of drug use being a problem in trucking in the last 20 years that it is made out to be. And the very few cases it was and someone was hurt, those individuals are sitting on their stump in an enclosed room with no windows. As it should be.
Overall, seems like just a waste of time and money with no real positive results. Many of those that were caught using and driving trucks, got thru in the past and still used. That will never change. Some idiots are going to be just that.... idiots. And no amount of money, time, regulation, etc is going to change that.Digit Thanks this. -

they tested my hair for drugs when i got hired a month and a half ago. i was glad they did because i would smoke if allowed to, however somebody who dabbles in powder can pass a pee test easy, but not a toker. so hair samples leveled the playing feild. if i gotta be responsible, so does everyone one else in an orange truck. i go without and you do too.
other than that, society has deemed it bad to do illegal drugs, so, its bad. leave them alone and you'll have less problems...supremekizzle and wulfman75 Thank this. -
wulfman75 Thanks this.
