Has anyone ever done 700 miles on elogs

Here is an old post (in the quote) of mine that detailed a 1600 mile run that I did in 2 days last fall.

 

Regularly. Governed at 70. Not sure why sleeper berth wasn’t logged. Also, can’t remember why I took that picture, but I’m pretty sure me and my cousin were having a measuring contest...

My current 8 day isn’t as big, but there is a 700+ day on there.

Other than that, it’s just about keeping the left door closed and not jacking around.

From the terminal in McAllen, TX to Exit 87 truck stop at (you guessed it) exit 87 on I-10 in West Texas is 714 miles. From there, it’s about 720 miles to Chiriaco Summit, about 70 miles inside California (I do the speed limit in CA...ish)

I don’t like driving that hard, but I’m a slave to efficiency and time management. We are paycheck motivated, and the quicker we can get there, the quicker we can get home to see our family.

If I could make the same money and see my family as often, or more, I would gladly drive a 60mph governed truck 8 hours a day.

I spent a couple years preparing to get my own truck, researching, saving, planning, and was getting ready to make the move last year. Test drove a couple of trucks, getting Landstar paperwork, felt I had a good business plan. Just as I was preparing to marry this career, I reflected and realized...my family needs me out of the truck.

So, I drive 700 miles days and keep saving that money as I work towards plan b and c.

It can be done legally, as long as your tractor is governed about that, and you’re in states that have the speed to allow it,

 

Best I ever did was 693 in a 72mph truck. I wasn’t on that job for very long. Ended up giving them their slow truck and new breed log back.

Life is much better in an ungoverned truck on paper....

 

The highest I've gotten is 667. Truck governed @ 62. That was when everything was perfect. No fuel needed. 30 minute break at a rest area. Left Dallas at 4 am on Saturday. Hit no traffic going to New Jersey, stopped for the night in TN. Stopped with 2 minutes left on Qualcomm.

 

755 miles. I80 NE-CO

 

It’s possible, but you’ll need to avoid mountains & either coast like the plague and drive a truck that’s faster than 65 mph, like mine is. I come close here and there, but I always just barely miss it. Closest I got was 681 miles, from the Love’s in Moody, AL to my customer in Dallas. Did it in 10:48.

 

Don’t stress yourself out with the e-logs and the HOS as they are today. They’re designed to not allow you to be anything more than an avg paid employee. Its communism under a diff guise.

675 miles in 10hrs 23min. had to stop for fuel & quick repair. shattered my dream. lol

 

When I ran a Columbus to Los Angeles dedicated load, I was able to do Springfield, MO to Santa Rosa, NM which was 705 miles. Of course I ran westbound at night with little traffic, and kept the door shut and rolled.
