After last week's rate hacking where I live I went home and parked for a week as did the rest of the owner ops at the company I'm leased to ..the company won't haul cheap crap either and we found other things to do .
I to don't have a lot of overhead but that don't mean I'm gona wear my truck out for crap rates .
Let the cheap freight sit !

Always $2/mile or higher. And always check your actual mileage on the GPS or whatever routing mechanism you use against their posted mileage.

You guys ought to be pushing for a LOT more than $2 a mile from brokers on 400-600 mile van runs in the southeast right now. No matter what (lies) they say early in the day they are paying it late afternoon on the stuff they need to move. Trucks are tight.

Mega carrier will send in their company driver to scoop it all up. Its like a whale in the ocean, they scoop up everything in their way.

I love driving nights, less traffic, less idle,
Fuel lanes always open. Efficient efficient efficient. Morning parking is a breeze always an open spot... Chicago mid day 1.5 to 2 hours... 2am 30 minutes.

These types of discussions are futile without a few more details that impact a required rate to stay solvent. I'll throw out a few:
    Running your own authority?
    Leased to a carrier?
Who supplies the trailer, liability insurance, pays fuel taxes-tolls-scale tickets, permits, base plate?
    Fuel, tire, maintenance discount programs?
Regional, 48 state (incl CA) or Canada?
    Time sensitive or junk freight?

    You get the picture.

Yep. Which is why I don't get it when a guy with his own authority is happy at 2 bucks a mile when I'm getting that leased to carrier with them paying the liability and cargo.

    Ruthless Thanks this.

Why do these types of threads always turn into a #### measuring contest?
