    I would upgrade for various reason but the number 1 is download capabilities. This is a cover your ### industry, and unless you can prove through your unit that it did hold temp, you will eat the load. Either equip your unit with a DAS or upgrade to a sr2,3, or 4 unit.

    Most companies require-20 to haul ice cream, if tral can run at that should be OK!

    2:40pm, under a blazing sun...turn ur unit on...how cold & how long will it take...(doesn't count after the sun sets)

    I realize this thread is old, but it occurs to me it's not a matter of can the unit pull the inside (empty) temp to -10 or -20, it's a matter of how long will it take. If it took 3, 4, 6+ hours???, I'd say you're going to have some issues in the summer. If it went from 90 to -10 in an hour, it's doing a great job.

    There was a thread (actually 2) on TTR yesterday about a refused load of water from the reefer temp not being set correctly. Very informative.

    Can you get away with toying with a tattleltale thermostat so it won't read above -20. That would be a good CYA.
    I saw a Fleming Foods employee reject an ice cream load, saying it was soft when it actually was hard as concrete. He did this because he did a double order by mistake and threw the truck driver and trucking company under the bus to save himself.

    yeah if you get a warehouse that insists on you precooling your reefer you could be waiting for hours i remember years ago having to pick up a load in Oklahoma in the middle of summer it must of been at least 100f fortunately they let us load first then we had to get it down to -15 before security would let us leave, my reefer would not go down below -5 so i sat there for about 3 hours trying all sorts of things finally i got a tip from another driver he said to unhitch my trailer and leave a gap to allow more air to flow into the fridgemotor so i tried this the result was amazing so thats a tip for anyone having trouble trying to get your temps down unhook the trailer and leave a gap.

    cough, cough...(clearing throat), loading up Ice cream out of Atlanta, Ga. area going down to the Miami area, with a TK SBIII, on a 1998, 53x110x102 Utility.

    let me tell ya, -5 is the best my trailer could ever do, Trl would be loaded hours after sun set, then drive like a S.O.B to arrive around sun up. All for $2400.00....gotta be a better way.

    Yeah i agree i thought the temp was pretty cold however them's just the rules the Company sending the freight required there are some trailers though that are much better designed for frozen freight my trailer was not one of them. Opps just realized i was talking Celsius most frozen freight needs to be between -15 & - 20 C so whats that in Fahrenheit about 5 & -4 needless to say my Reefer was struggling to get anywhere near - 4f

    I HOPE the truck driver did NOT get written up or terminated for this. The Fleming Foods employee should have been seriously disciplined for pulling a horrible stunt as this!
