Hazmat (HME) Appeal/Waiver Process(?)

    Thanks for the reply. I haven't applied yet. However, I emailed the agent responsible for my area and discussed my history. They said I would be denied and would have to submit a waiver. I'm trying to get further details out of them...but thought to ask here to. Thanks again!

    Maybe, but I'm still trying to get info on the waiver process (outside of what's on the TSA Website).

    Just like cops, their not always right on things their supposed to know. If you don't want to disclose what your history was that's your choice, but without knowing that we'd just be guessing. Have you gone through the disqualifier list yourself to see if it seems you won't get it? It kinda takes a lot. Do you hunt or own guns? Pretty much the same things DQ you for the HME that do for firearm purchases.

    I cant own firearms. Nothing to do w/terrorism, transportation, drugs, etc.

    These categories include any person:


    Under indictment or information in any court for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;


    convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;


    who is a fugitive from justice;


    who is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance;


    who has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution;


    who is an illegal alien;


    who has been discharged from the military under dishonorable conditions;


    who has renounced his or her United States citizenship;


    who is subject to a court order restraining the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of the intimate partner; or


    who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence (enacted by the Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997, Pub. L. No. 104-208, effective September 30, 1996). 18 USC 922(g) and (n).
