Wow.....thanks everyone for the info. I called the local DDS office satuday to verify. Well they are open on saturdays so I called but there was a recording but it wouldnt let me speak to an actual person. And at the end of the message it said for me to call an other number for questions etc. It was the main DDS office and they were closed on saturdays. M-F only But im hoping I can take the test Monday morning! But im gonna call first.

When I renewed here in Florida, I took the test, passed it, then was subject to the fingerprinting right after the test. I paid for everything before I left the building.

The bureau takes our current license, gives us a temporary and we wait for the background check to be completed. Our updated licenses are sent to us in the mail about 10 days later.

Another question pertaining to hazmat......sorry im asking so much !

But do I have to have a CDL BEFORE I could be accepted to take my hazmat ? I read it earlier something about it but I cant find that web page I was reading. I have a CDL-A Permit but I wont my hazmat endorsement on my class C regular drivers license to make it a CDL enorder to drive for Panther sense they require a CDL C-B-A for Cargo Van.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but you can't have more than one license. When you get a CDL, you will have to turn in any other license you have. With a class A, you can drive anything requiring a B or C license.

I don t know what the laws are in Georgia but I checked AZ and CDL s only come in class B & A a class C w/ hazmat is just a regular license w/ hazmat endorsement. If you are getting a CDL then your old license will be history once you get CDL.

I found the questions I was looking for thanks for the info.

I called DDS and they did say I had to submit my hazprint application, finger prints, then take the test.

Pittsburghpa there are CDL test help sites that you can go to. Best way to find one in your local area is do a google search. I have hazmat and had to renew my license back in Sept. In Calif you have to pass the test first then get fingerprinted and a background check. I was cleared in less than 2 weeks. Of course having had a Top Sercet Clearance from my time in the Air Force couldv'e helped. While many consider getting the Hazmat endorsement a PITA its worth the hassle because it opens up more loads.

Slod the fueling part just means you can't sit in the truck while fueling. Teams usually haul explosvies becaues they can't be left unattended. I have yet to bothered by the DOT when I have hauled Hazmat. Granted I can count the Hazmat loads I've pulled on both hands with fingers to spare.
