Back when I was in my “trainee team” phase at my first driving job at a mega training company 26 years ago they assigned a complete idiot to pair up with me. This guy already flunked out of two driving schools before this training company (*cough* orange trucks*cough*)hired him. Couldn’t read maps at all and even thought the little dirt roads in PA were perfectly ok for trucks. Anyways he had a habit of trying to order beer every time we stopped at a TA or flying j to eat, which they didn’t, and the last straw was when I returned to the truck after grabbing a shower and finding him sitting in the drivers seat of the truck sipping a big 40 oz of colt 45 right in full view of and terminal personnel that might pass by!! I gave him a choice- either put the bottles in the bag and throw it over the fence into the field or I’d call the cops right then & there. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like turning someone in but if they are gonna do crap like that that’ll put me in danger of being caught & penalized by association or get me killed, or I have to fix things because of their stupid and/or laziness I will make some noise. Besides after I lost a couple of close people in my life to DWI accidents I have no respect or sympathy for ****holes who think it’s ok to jump behind the wheel and drive even after so much as a sip of beer, not to mention it’s one of the reasons I don’t drink and i hate alcohol anyways.
