Not all recruiters lie. Some are honest. But, Heartland does have a reputation for treating drivers badly.

But if an outfit like Heartland's recruiters were honest, they wouldn't be in business for very long.MachoCyclone, drvrtech77 and Air Breeze Thank this. -
most recruiters aren't even employed by the megas, they are mostly contract workers and recruit for different companies all at the same time, thus getting paid bt the companies for each recruit they send to them, thus cutting down on payroll for the company,so you might not have even talked to an actual employee of heartland

You were delusional to think you could work for any otr
Company and not run the red eye.
You done a smart thing finding a different line of work,
Saved you from facing a bunch of pissed of drivers
That would have gotten screwed by having to finish
Your load at 10 pm.
Do you really think the owner is going to respond to you.
Don't waste your time or energy.ChicagoJohn, reefer75, MachoCyclone and 2 others Thank this. -
You only need a recruiter if turn over drivers like they are worthless.
That is why the mega-crap all have recruiters on staff. The need to lie and BS the naive into working for them otherwise the seats would be empty within a year with 100% turnover.
A good company has no need for a recruiter.DTP Thanks this. -
Hahahaha a solar power crying about having to drive at night. This line of work you should expect to never go to sleep or wake up the same time twice in a row. The day should be the same as night, just a number on the clock. I have no sympathy for you.
snowlauncher, Western flyer and KriegHund Thank this. -
Coover, antoinefinch, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this.

There are plenty of solar power gigs. My current, and soon to be former, gig is solar powered. But, they're not a "trucking company". They're a private manufacturer that happens to have trucks.
Frankly, I agree with th op. In general, I despise unions, but I think this industry is in dire need of one.
All that said, and as much as I can empathize with the op, he probably should have been aware of Heartland Express' reputation. It's pretty widely known. -
Yet from reading the Heartland thread, they're flipping theirs almost daily.
So the recruiter should have been honest about that part.jparm Thanks this.
