Another sign of serious problems from heat, after you stop sweating, you get the chills like you are in a freezer.

@Big Don, I hear ya on Gatorade, after so many, the sweetener gets to me and I get cotton mouth and heartburn from it. And I can only drink the G2 type. The rest have (or had) high fructose corn sweetener, which is a laxative for my digestive tract. It is getting to the time of year for me that I don't even chill the water when I am out in the heat all day, I just go get a couple room temp bottles of water.

 

Something I used to do with my water can, (which always had plenty of ice, unless I was out on a lengthy assignment,) was to add a bit of lemon juice to it. The bottled kind. You don't want too much, and no I can't tell you how much I used, I just used about "that much."
Anyway, it does quench the thirst. In fact, it might actually quench it too much. I usually had some straight water with me as well.

 

Lemon is good. I sometimes use a splash of apple cider vinegar in my water. It quenches thirst better than just water and far better than Gatorade or other sugared up drinks. Either lemon or vinegar will clean your pallet, no thick coating on the tongue.

 

Now wait a minute here! I thought you were supposed to use sorbet to cleanse your pallet!

 

Sorbet is what hoyty-toyty folks use between meal courses, to literally "cleanse the pallet." You find it at some fancy restaurants.

Oh my, well I certainly hope that you will separate it from your Caesar Salad with some sorbet!

 

No shortage of gators here between Phoenix and LA either, not to mention the trucks sitting on the side of road with the hood up.
