Laredo is a cesspool. More like Mexico than USA these days.
San Antonio surpassed Dallas population wise recently.
That said.. I prefer SA over D traffic and pretty much across the board.jethro712 and austinmike Thank this. -
Better than it used to be some construction done
jethro712 Thanks this. -
Man, its just a roll of the dice. Headed to Temple myself. It all depends on if some "I gotta be there first" douche runs into something.

At Denton look at Google Maps with traffic turned on. There is still construction in downtown Fort Worth and between 287 and 820 and occasional night closures at the downtown construction. But more than likely, Fort Worth will be the fastest option barring out of the ordinary such as a major crash. But you still have the loop option if you do get caught.

Austin is still a PITA too. I always opt for the toll road out and around...Bestpass makes the trip so much easier.

I'm up and down 35 2 or 3 times a week, usually at night. I always take 35W even during the day. Traffic gets heavy in Fort Worth during rush hour but it's still better than 35E through Dallas. 35W is also 11 miles shorter than 35E.
Take the toll road around Austin between 5am and 8pm.jethro712 Thanks this. -
I suspect 35W would be the better route.
The last time I ran 35E back then it was such a cluster. Figured it will take them 20 years to clear it up.
It's been 20 and it aint.jethro712 Thanks this. -
Austin is ridiculous. Much worse than either S.A. or DFW. I take I-35 through it between 10 pm and 1 am twice a week and there is almost never NOT a significant slowdown even at that time. I'd have to quit if I had to run I-35 in the daytime.
I'm always amazed at how few cars even do the speed limit in Texas. Nowhere it seems to me are you more likely to see people doing 10mph under the limit in the left lane. Or across all 3 or 4 lanes.jethro712 Thanks this. -
I came through there yesterday around 6 pm on 35w and was happy to see the Ft Worth construction was finished. I breezed on through there no slowdown!
jethro712 Thanks this.
