While Stevens Transport is not a company I would suggest for an experienced driver, they meet pretty much all your desires. Even your desire to avoid I-70 through Vail in Colorado. Stevens specifically requires their drivers with less than 1 year experience to route around Vail, year-round.

Stevens is a company with a business model based on training drivers, then having those drivers move on to different companies. I suspect that they don't want drivers to stay more than a year or so, because they want the truck for a new graduate.

So, to be short and to the point. Stevens money is poor, but their training is very good. If you keep your nose clean, and put at least six months in with them, finding a better paying job will be a cakewalk. Put in a year, and almost anyone will hire you for standard reefer or dry van work.

    A few things.

First is you assume too much.

You are worried about where you are going to be "legally" living because of taxes?

You think that you will be making big bucks to be effective by that.

Second is you are assuming that you will make big bucks.

Third is living out of a truck doesn't mean it is a good thing, you will get tired of it.

Focus on this - getting your CDL, making this into a career and profession.
