MARK MY WORDS! YOU WILL REGRET PRIME. I live close to the terminal and they have more turnover than lot lizards in texas. Go ahead, when your back here crying you can cry till your heart bleeds.
I cannot believe some of you believe the crap they feed you. I live her dummy, I see it. Why do you think they cannot get people here to work there. Because we know. So best of luck. Company and Lease trucks set at 62 MPH. BTW the average prime driver gets around 1800 miles.
Help out a potential Prime driver

Driver turnover is high industry wide. For large fleets the average turnover is over 100%. Prime's turnover rate is around 55%.

Like anything else you're gonna get what you put in. ive been setting myself up for the last 4 years to make this move, and you can bet ive done my research. Prime far and away is at the top for training companies. Longest time with trainers, actual requirements of time of service for trainers, some of the best pay for newbies, equipment is top notch, and for those looking to do it, one of the few L/O programs that pays by the load, not miles
not that it matters, but c/o trucks ARE governed at 62, L/O @ 65, but the name of the game isnt top speed. Effecient and On Time are. and 10mph is only gonna do one thing, burn fuel. do the math, what an hr on 500 miles driven worth? well the fuel use difference can be substantial.
ps, don't care if you live in a cardboard box in the corner of the shop there, unless youve had first hand expierence with prime, you have little clue what to expect.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Go to any company's forums and pick a "Thinking about" thread. There will be a few people who will swear up and down that that company is the worst one in trucking.
Does Prime have its problems? Of course it does. All training companies do. Most of the people badmouthing Prime are either shills for other companies, or people who got into leasing without knowing how to run a business.
That said, you could do a lot worse than Prime.Pouring Coal and Chinatown Thank this. -
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times. Prime did us just fine. Our mileage average was well above what has been snarked here. His FM was awesome, she went above and beyond the call of duty on several occasions. The training time was extended by 2 weeks due to two one week beakdowns. That was no one's fault. Take those out, 10 weeks rolling time. 2 different trainers, because the first trainer's lease came due, and the truck had to get back to SpringMo. He averaged 5300/week with that one. The 2nd trainer was not as good a business man, and the average week was 4500 or so.
Overall, Prime was a good experience. Their insurance plans aren't the best, and sometimes payroll has a difficult time finding a hole in the ground (but that's usually quickly cleared up). Miles and pay were fine, would have loved to see him more, that's for sure. BUT, he learned a lot, and he's having a blast (albeit at a different company). -
or are you one that got rejected

Before you sign ANY CONTRACT WITH PRIME, You will want your lawyer to look at it. You gotta cover your ###.
If Prime wont let you, let your lawyer look at the exact contract your going to sign, run away fast, cause they are only hiding something
