Geez — can’t believe I am doing this, but it comes from the heart so it can’t be wrong. You said you have been behind the wheel for 3 days and a total of approximately 18 hours driving, I would suggest you take a deep breath and re -read your post in a couple days. The learning curve in this, or any other career that involves working with your hands in a dangerous environment is steep, and not everyone makes it. You have to develop a hide thicker than a water buffalo and let the BS slide off. Most everyone that has 20 - 30 years in the trade will help you in some form or another and wants you to succeed, but will give you their butt if they don’t respect you, and respect is earned, not given. Think about what you really learned in the last couple days rather than what the trainer taught you. Might give you a different perspective on the situation.
    I’m done

Truck driving is lots & lots of driving, most of which is in a truck. You might consider testing hammocks or lawn furniture. I hear there's less truck driving.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY WHILE YOU DRIVE. DO millennials understand why the world laughs at them?

The key to life is understanding that its one big back rub, while wearing flannel pajamas and being told how important we all are.

My experience is that while the so-called "trainers" at Prime may (or may not necessarily be) góod to outstanding truck drivers in their own right? That doesn't mean they're worth a #### as a trainer.

I've heard there are some outstanding trainers at Prime and that Prime has a top-shelf training program. Best of the best.

That's not been my experience. My experience has been its a ram, jam, slam you through a rush hurry up, get in, sit down, shut up, do as your told, when you're told!

With trainers who get into becoming trainers because they became lease operators with $900 plus weekly lease payments on top of other expenses.

I'm 7 months in and can't back for spit. Primarily because every time I went to back I was told to move over or get #$%& out the way. Or I was taking to much time (Any time greater than 2 minutes)

My net weekly income is $455 a week. And I don't even have the medical insurance.

10 to 12 days PSD training and 40k TNT training does not a truck driver make.

Daily I'm rethinking my career options and choices. BTW, I'm no wet nose, whinny, crying kid that's untrainable, lacking in self-control and self-discipline.

So far my experience has been an experience of being set up to fail

Just curious, what does PSD mean? Does it stand for Prime Stress Disorder?

You know there is one other reason the trainer may not let Lee79 drive more than 6 hours. It may be that Lee79's driving isnt that great and it is to the point that the trainer has to take over to get the load to its destination. After all, he has declared that he only wants to drive a conservative 55 when the trainer is telling him to do 65

FINALLY - Someone that has some first hand knowledge of the situation there.

Half the trainers there couldn’t teach a rock to sit still. They’re lease operators motivated by $$. Working to fail.

My brother in law got ‘trained’ by a Korean guy who would doze off while driving, wake him up with the rumble strip, barely spoke English, and taught him NOTHING until he requested another ‘trainer’, who did a somewhat better job, until he left for Western Express ( wow, what an upgrade ). At Prime - this is how they operate.

I understand the “Let’s bash the millennial “ thing - but I don’t want to see any of you lot whining about the following things if you want to bash the OP and not realize what these companies are doing -

    • Prime doing 63mph in a 45 zone.
    • Prime backed into my truck
    • Prime jackknifing and blocking my route
    • Prime parked at a fuel island for 30min.
    • Prime impeded traffic in center lane
    • Prime wearing flip flops
    Etc, Etc. Why?

Because if they actually TRAINED the students, with TRUCKERS, not TRAINEES - then the new driver standard would be raised.

None of the posts here have been about that in this thread. Perhaps you should have read what people are posting about here. A student on a truck being concerned that he only gets 6 hours of wheel time, making a post that 6 hours seems like slave labor. This same poster less than a week ago was posting about failing at even getting a license.
