My winch doesn't go all the way to the rear so I have these stake pocket one. But I'm not sure how to use them. Mainly the excess straps, I can't roll them all the way up because it gets thick and stuck. Do I just use the excess under the straps and tie it down?
Help securement: am I doing this right?

If those are dirtbags make sure you crossstrap the ones in the back, those are the ones that usually fall over and dump all over the highway, I've seen it happen more than a few times.
-
I'm surprised they shipped that on a flatbed. What, no van trailers around? Looks like kind of a "S" load for a flatbed. Hope that wrap and your tarps hold out the moisture in a downpour, or you'll have 600 bags of cured "Quikrete".

Don’t you need two straps minimum on each because those pallets are over 1,100lb?
-
I use them like a ratchet strap... pull the strap all the way through then tighten it and with the excess fold it up and bungee it or use a zip tie
-
Only 1 strap if they’re against secured pallets in front of them without a gap, or a rated headboard.snowman_w900, Tb0n3, kylefitzy and 8 others Thank this.

Same here- however, from the color of the wagon I’d figure he’s prolly doing fairly local work. If I was putting them on n taking them off more than once a day, I’d fold them in 1’ increments after running it thru the slot, then put the folded end in the back n crank it in to hold it while securing the pallet.
.... not sure if I’m explaining that in a way that a inexperienced hand will understand......snowman_w900, peterbilt_2005, cke and 2 others Thank this. -
Quickrete in a wet shrinkwrap wrapped all over it. And not tarps.
I never see those stake devices in my life. So I wont waste anyone's time babbly. You should cross several over the last rear pallets. To repeat a common oversight. -
Thanks for the help. I usually fold them and tuck it in and strap it with the strap and rub bar. But there's nothing to strap it against so I tried just rolling it up. But this thing doesn't like that and just a few roll it gets full. I don't use this often but just making sure I'm doing it right.
And yes I'm local, I don't tarp, If it get wet and the receivers don't want it, we take it back. The shipper is responsible to wrap it if it's raining. -
Cut the straps.
I have like 6 straps that I cut to about 16 feet long. Then I take a lighter and burn the ends. This helps strap short freight sooooo much faster. Not to mention rolling the straps quicker.Drifter379 and x1Heavy Thank this.
