Before you do that, pressurize a fuel tank (5-10 psi)

If you have a fuel vac gauge disconnect that line and cap it first.

Leave pressurized a minute, then go looking for leaks.

Cracked fuel line on suction side will do what youre saying

Had this just once with a S60, 12.7 - it ran home - changed SRS/TRS, never happened again.

Cheap easy sensors that can probably be changed out periodically as part of deep maintenance.

I did once. Bought it on line for about $40. It lasted a day and put in the $190 Cummins sensor. That one is still working two years later.

I know on the 12.7 Detroits, there was a check valve for the fuel on the rear of the engine that would go bad, and it's in one of the most hard to reach places. Pretty sure the only difference between the 12.7 and 14.1(as far as hardware) is the crank and higher flow injectors. I don't think they eliminated the fuel flow check valve.

And the reason starting fluid is bad for diesels is because it damages the compression rings, and with those, especially when cold, it doesn't develope sufficient compression(heat) to ignite the fuel.

Check valve on the back of the head is the first place to look

Piston, rods and liners too. You can't pull the rod threw the liner on a 14l.

SRS will stop it from starting. It will start on either and run all week till you turn the key off.

TRS will not stop it from running. But I'd change both if you need one.

Added, My experience is up to Dedec4.

There should be tons of info in the search block, top right. Do not limit your searches to Freightliner, 12.7, 14L and other such things.
Check valve in Davco and injector o - rings are other common problems.

Did you drop the SRS sensor bolt down and it was trapped between the air compressor and block? Cause I know a guy that has hundreds of times.
