If the dc you applied to is still on the wal-mart driver openings page, that means they are still going through applications in order of which received and haven't filled all positions at that dc yet. It's only a bad time to try and get hired at a dc that isn't hiring.

Let me get everyones opinion on something. What if, to get more drivers, they lower the requirement of 3 years safe to 2 years safe but keep the rest of the requirements. In addition, keep anyone hired on with less than 3 years safe experience, on a probationary period that would last a year until their 3 years consecutive safe mile stone. And if they have an accident or something while on that period, they could be terminated without question. Thoughts?

In this tight market and until the next recession the only thing that will help is paying more. Walmart is a hybrid, we are not local drivers but we aren't long distance either, there are lots of daily frustrations and crazy moves.
I am here only and exclusively because of the money and scheduled time off, my previous job had less headheaches.
More Money won't fix the issues but it'll make it nearly impossible for drivers to quit.
My honest 5 cents.Coover Thanks this. -
I got called and interviewed for a position at Shelby,NC. I am going up there to take pre-trip inspection and road test. Is this a good time to hire on at Wal-Mart. I am seeing mixed opinions about taking a driving job there at this time. I still think it is one of the better jobs out there, but I guess that depends on where you are now. Does anyone here have any opinions on the private fleet staying in business for the long term? I'm just asking for honest opinions before I go up there. Thanks for any help

We are having issues with the new programs, but I think long term they will get it fixed or axe the program.
Some of the better pay out there. You will start extra driving other guys trucks. In all honesty even when you get your own truck someone else will drive it when you are gone.
We never touch freight. You can talk to anyone here so long as it is done respectfully.BFL123 Thanks this. -
Thanks guys, I know it will work for me, or at least hope so. I try not to read into too much stuff on here If it was too bad there, I think a lot more people would have left than did My wife and I sat down when I did the application and we agreed that if a job was offered, Id give it a shot. I think it will work for us. And thats what matters most, cause everyones situation is different. Thanks again
