    Ramp yields.

Have you been to pa yet?

    Good times over there ;)

Let em feed in if you can out of courtesy but never adjust your line erratic for a four wheeler. You'll win that battle if they choose to be stupid.

Hold that lane even if it means the merging vehicle going in the ditch! By backing off you did more than I would have. Only vehicles I slow down for, speed up for or when safe merge for are other 18 wheelers. 4 wheelers have more get up and go power. If they can't figure out that they need to get on it when getting on the highway they're eating shoulder gravel! The stupidity of drivers used to shock me but not anymore. I think a species can only evolve so far before they start to devolve!

It's not your job to hold people's hands while they gingerly nose their minivans on to the freeway at 49mph. But get used to seeing people who think it's your duty to move out of their way while they baby their cars up to highway speed and react accordingly when you don't! The average motorist only wants your slow behind in the right lane, unless they're merging, then you need to move. But if they're behind you in the hammer lane, you need to stay in the right lane, even if someone else who needs you to move is coming up the ramp beside you. Right??

Likewise, don't be afraid to run the shoulder coming up a ramp if it's big enough and the people on the road can't/won't get over. Once you start kicking gravel up, someone will make room, I guarantee it. Just watch out for crap on the side of the road.

Trainer told me to always maintain your lane no matter what happens...said when the dust settles you better be in the same lane you were when the crap hit the fan...of course there are exceptions to the rule I'm sure.

Idiots don't know what YIELD means anymore and all the states save money by not putting those signs at the bottom of the entrance ramp so people on the ramp think everyone is to get out of their way.

To the OP, it's also both of those vehicles' fault that were merging onto the road not to look at what traffic was doing BEFORE they got to the end of the ramp.

You did a good job, mainly you saw the car by your right steer tire and made the right decisions concerning that. Especially a minivan load of little ones that have no control over anything.

I agreed with hoth2o, I only change lane or brake to let another fellow driver in. 4wheelers can easily stop or hammer it around me. Watch out for those on/off ramps that happen to be 100 yards away from each other. Hate those, 4wheelers comes flying down the on ramp while I'm trying to get off

I was in the same position on I10 in Texas in the spring of 2012 nowhere to go pulling oilfield equipment with a overweight permit load and the Texas State Trooper wound up in the grass. I expected to be stopped, but he went around and never saw him again. You did Ok nobody was hurt. You used Your best judgement keep it up and you will be fine.

Ha HA. Pennsylvania. Ohh yeah. Little over a year ago I was WB on I-283 I think it was. I was doing ~60 in the granny passing by the Manhiem Pike get on ramp and this chick in a VW leaves the on ramp, crosses over the solid "do not merge" line in front of me doing ~45 mph. I tagged her with the RF of my bumper in her left rear. She crossed the hammer land and bounced off the jersey barrier and hit me again this time in my LF bumper. Then she bounced off me and hit the jersey barrier again. Bounced off it again and it me in my left side drives. Then she bounced off the jersey barrier a third time and this time the trailer tires clipped her. She hit the jersey barrier one last time and finally came to rest up against it. Her mascara was running all over the place after that ride. She looked like Alice Cooper. And the the stupid arse plead not guilty to the improper left turn charge and I had to go back and appear in court. Good times yup.

You're fine. Just remember, the four wheelers are a hell of a lot more manuverable than you. It's their responsibility. That's why I'm a vampire, fewer idiots to deal with.
