Lol....I actually find the truck mattress more comfortable than a mattress that goes on a regular bed. I even bought 3 of them to put on the kids' beds lol

back in my day, maybe even @D.Tibbitt 's day, it was known as "long haul" for a reason. you were gone for the "long haul"
that did not necessarily mean for the miles, but for the weeks and months instead. it was told to new drivers back then, "this is how you make those big dollars, by staying out for a long time"
only a few in my class dropped out of the class, let alone graduate. for those few of us that went on the graduate, we "did our time", or "paid our dues" many times over, and many of us like me, got sweet home daily jobs, that paid as much if not more than long haul ever did.
then about a couple or so decades ago, the term "long haul" was dropped in favor of "OTR" or over the road, to not scare of the namby pamby newbies.
it's the way it was, decades ago. you either did it, or stayed home on the back porch, wondering why you were unemployed, after you said something like, "i always wanted to be a truck driver"....Crusader66, Speed_Drums, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this. -
Longest I’ve ever stayed out was 11 days many years ago when I worked for Schneider. For the last decade though I’ve done a handful of six day weeks but for the most part 4.5 to 5 days is all I’m doing. Running 500-650 miles each of those days out nets a comfortable earning. OTR consisted of to many short/wasted days for my liking. Can’t see a reason to stop the truck any longer than 10 hours a night during the week.
