Work for a Temp. Service that hires cdl drivers. This way, you work when you want to and it doesn't hurt your work record because you work for a temp service. Trillium is a popular one for cdl drivers.
Another benefit is, you work for and are paid by the temp service. You may drive for several different trucking companies, but on your job history, you only worked for the temp service.

I work for Roehl we have a very generous hometime package. 28 days on the road banks you 7 days off. To get 2 weeks off without vacation you have to stay out for 85. No one has ever complained about me taking a week off. I usually do 28 out week home.

I work for a company that mainly runs midwest from Iowa and Illinois down to Texas then up to Denver then back to the midwest. I live in far upstate NY and we don't have a freight base up there so when I do take time off it is usually an independent brokered load to get me near my home. I run 3-4 months out OTR then typically take a week off. I just started 2 weeks off today after being out since I Jan 2019. Shoot me a msg if you want details on my company.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

yes, you need to tell them what you are after home or work, how much work for how much home time if any some truckers only one and they drive it if you don't tell them they may assume that is your home. I have known a few truckers they only have a po box at best or storage unit. they work 3-5 years save and either by themselves a truck or home, land anything really.

    Jay5GS and Lepton1 Thank this.
