One thing I've realized is that I don't have a doubt that some of the guys on this post are averaging 1.80 ALL MILES.
I can honestly believe that. However, the average flatbed guy at mercer isn't averaging 1.80 all miles an the loadboard will prove that. There are some extremely good loads on mercer board but most of the loads on the board are trash loads. So there's absolutely no way the average guy here is making decent money.
Most of em are making just enough to keep bills covered an me personally, I didn't start a business just to keep my bills paid. The reason I stated I was lied to was because that was my FIRST question to the recruiter was how is the freight in the southeast. He insisted that Bham of all places was a goldmine for mercer. I also assumed the loads paid better as a contractor here versus an outside carrier for mercer. Only to realize most of the loads pay around the same if not lower than the carrier based board. So in actuality, it really evens out whether you're running for mercer or you're an approved carrier for them. Only advantage to being an approved carrier, you get to pull from whatever carrier of your choosing.
Bottom line is, if you have the oppurtunity and/or finances to become your own carrier then TAKE IT...that way if mercer board doesn't look good to you one week you can jump over onto LS or universal's or bennett's board etc etc.
spyder of all people should totally understand where I'm coming from because he was once independent.
There's nothing like being able to pull up ANYWHERE an get a load an with a 30 second phone call you're approved to pull the load. An when you lease on to a carrier that you're restricted to just their loadboard it kinda feels as if your hands are slightly tied because u can't move Around how you want to move.

I take my hat off to the fella @CJndaTruck
I voiced my issue he came back with a simple reply..."some systems just don't work for everybody" ...(wasn't his words verbatim but close to it)
There wasn't any fingers being pointed an all that crap. I respect that.
But throw out the idea that a guy "isn't paying attention" or "he just doesn't know what he's doing" or "you should plan better" that's all a load of crap. You can't spit those claims out to a guy who's been doing this just as long as lot of you an doing it as an O/O at that!! -

@jacquesi23 like @skateboardman said your coordinator is business a business relationship. If you have given the relationship enough time and it's not working out then by all means ask for a new coordinator.
Just keep in mind, if you try to go thru to many coordinators, Mercer will think your the problem and not the coordinator. Mercer wants you to be successful and happy here -
