I finally managed to find a fuel stop today that had pumps that weren't frozen. After done fueling I checked my time and seen I could still make delivery since they have overnight parking. As soon as I hit the on ramp I seen I actually didnt have enough time and turned around but didnt make it back the 2 miles to return to the truck stop. As a result I went in violation about 2 minutes. Company was informed immediately and said it's okay. Personally, I am not okay with this but I'm worried what would happen if I got a DOT inspection. Anyone know?

You are not likely to get a ticket for 2 minutes if you are polite and respectful. There are dick cops out there that would so don’t do anything that crys out for an inspection like drive with burned out lights.

(((Worse case))) they will issue you a report with the HOS violation on it, and you might get a citation. Stop worrying about it. It's part of the learning curve and a lot of drivers have had this to happen.

Even my company will give us 7 minutes over before they say anything. Kinda like old paper days you need to be 7.5 past to round up to 15 minute

Who cares if you get a ticket?

seriously it ain't a show stopper and your company already acknowledged it and stated it was not a big deal.

I got one for omitting a zip code on my log, the cop was an idiot and could not find anything else wrong so he gave me one for improper log entry - I took it, called the company I was leased to and they said "next time out in all zip codes" and they paid the fine.

I screwed up a few months ago thought I'd park at Tulsa got there early maybe 2 pm. No dice. 45 min remaining. Hammer to big cabin. Over by 6 min. Make note on log. Inspected 2 days later. Didn't even mention it. They see you don't try to squeeze every last minute every day they probably won't say anything. They are looking for habitual offenders. Yours is an honest mistake. Don't sweat it.

If they do hammer you what lesson will you learn? Over by 2 minutes? Same punishment if over by 2 hours? So next time you say heck with this I'll carry on longer I am screwed anyway. That isn't their goal.

I already parked. It was 2 minutes total in violation. As soon as I realized my mistake I turned around immediately to park

Man, it would take a special kind of grinch to get on to you over something that insignificant. A log violation here and there is actually a good sign that you are logging legally. I've heard that log auditors expect a violation here and there because no one is perfect. The drivers who run up to the last minute all the time and miraculously have zero violations are usually the suspicious ones. 2 minutes?? Shiiiiiii
