And thus, the curtainside trailer was born.W923, tscottme, IH Truck Guy and 4 others Thank this.

But is that the proper way to load it?
tscottme, blairandgretchen, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
Its just stupidity. I often used to drive through the mountain passes up in western Canada on my commute to work. Every time in winter you'd see 7 or 8 trucks running down those single lane 6-7% grades with maybe 30 feet of space between them. The lead truck would hit his brakes to slow down for a corner and it'd be a chain reaction of brake lights and sliding trailers. Then there's me with about 20x that distance in front of me and some moron inches off my rear bumper because he thinks I also need to be 20 feet away from the next nearest vehicle too.W923, tarmadilo, hope not dumb twucker and 11 others Thank this.

I have my trailer side loaded all the time...but I drive open deck, and they load it so it so it fits between the sides of the trailer.
W923, hope not dumb twucker, firemedic2816 and 4 others Thank this. -
Well, if you just get close enough that person in front of you might speed up another 3 mph so you might make that JIT load that you knew you couldn't make in time when you accepted the load.hope not dumb twucker, Kyle G. and Rideandrepair Thank this.

To me it looks like the lowboy carrying the sprinters may have been moving slow or stopped. Then the can got sideways and the trailer hit the tail end of the lowboy broadside with the bottom rails of the van getting up under the sprinter while the rest of the van side was pushed through by the sprinter itself. If you look the vans bottom rails appear intact and the lowboy looks to have extension ramps sticking out
Accidental Trucker, Kyle G. and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I believe you are correct. This was also posted in the hall of shame thread, and it was stated that the lowboy was sitting in the median and was struck by the dry van. I guess they must have both hit the same patch of ice. Naturally, the flatbedder was a better driver
, so he was able to keep his rig straight, while the dry van probably just mashed his brake pedal and went in sideways. I'm just guessing here LOL!

Van driver Youtube was still in the "pay attention" video, he thought it best to look at that than where he was going.
