Relatively new driver here. I’m asking bc I was talking to a few more seasoned vets and they were saying drivers side swiping trucks or trailers, hitting fences, property, etc is common. I ask bc I worry someone hits my truck while I’m asleep or something and I get blamed for it. How common is it in your experience in regards to drivers hitting other trucks, customer property, etc.? Sounds like they get away with it a lot if it’s as common as they’re making it out to be but wanted to get some insight from you guys. Thanks
How common are hit and runs?

1) get a dashcam. It will save the story of what happened
2) avoid parking on the end of row. In case someone turns too sharp
3) try not to be the person that turns too sharp into the truck at end of rownextgentrucker, Magoo1968, tscottme and 7 others Thank this. -
I always found it easier to sleep once the parking on both sides of me were taken. Avoid trying to create your own spot. Seems most companies have their own dashcams if you don't buy one. Couple few years ago I had this new driver backing into a spot directly behind me and he ever so slightly bumped my trailer, He got out ran up to my truck and wanted to call in to his company to report the incident lol there was absolutely no damage what so ever But he wanted to report to his company, I tried talking him out of it but he insisted. So he does and about 20 mins later he knocks on my door and tells me he reported it and they told him to deliver his load and then head to the terminal for a talk with safety. Poor kid wouldn't listen to me

pretty common with todays drivers, one hit my hood mirror, moving it inwards and shattering it.
Drove off.
Motives dash camera didn’t catch anything cause it went off on middle of night.
Now i got that AI camera that stays on but trash talks you all day.nextgentrucker, Magoo1968, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -

In a world where no one wants to take responsibility for their actions, always needs to be first at everything, always got a gold star just for waking up the next day ( didn’t even need to be on time). Their only hobbies are smoking weed, watching porn, playing video games or the latest tik tok challenge, calling everyone out on the mistakes they make while actually being the dumbest one doing it. Truly the biggest two reasons in this industry today are “gotta go gotta go” and the fear of being fired for reporting anything no matter how small it is. Yeah. Hit and runs are more often then ever.
