I'm from very close to Nashville also. Western Express and Rusty Dog Express in Lebanon might both give you a chance. Plenty others. Get that cdl from a school and you'll be rolling down the highway soon.
How do I patch my life back together?

I appreciate everyone's input. I know some of my questions seem stupid to ask,and yes I have read several of the felony threads, but everyone's case is different.
austinmike Thanks this. -
I'm over in Knoxville so pretty #### close. When the time is right, may even be worth driving over to talk to them in person.
-
When I went to CRE's school we had several felons there, worse things than you're posting here. Handle your business and get on it.
-
The only problem I see is the “probation” part.
Being OTR you would likely miss quite a few appointments with your PO..
My last company hired 2 murderers fresh out of prison and CDL school.. One rolled a truck his first week or to in and they let him go.
Fact is you’d fit right in with some of the characters in this industry..
You won’t fit the mold of most large carriers (be thankful) but there is plenty of small carriers that won’t care about your personal drama..
lol, most of these carriers out here are professional thieves anyway.. -
Good idea; let them meet you face to face.
I've lived in Nashville and born & raised within a few miles in an adjoining county.
We'll get some more company names for you.
Maybe TLD Logistics; don't know their policy on felons, but you can research that. Here's their website ; TLD Logistics Offers Trucking services, Truck Driver ...
Here's info on their training: Driving School

HA!
I've thought about the probation piece, maybe I can talk to my lawyer and explain my plan of being a fine upstanding citizen - otherwise known as an OTR trucker - and work on getting unsupervised probation. That way I wouldn't need to worry about the meetings. Or just hack the Qualcomm and give the PO officer access to know where I am at all times. It would be like an ankle bracelet.......just kidding on that. No more poor choices in my life. I'm 49 and too old for that now. -
I had been looking at Truck Driving | TCAT Knoxville for school as it's pretty cheap, but 8 weeks. TLD is great at only 3-4 weeks. Thank you for the heads up on that.Chinatown Thanks this.

160 hour cdl school is all you need; choose the cheapest one that's no less than 160 hours.
Here's some more company names that hire felons. Don't go by what's on the websites because they all bend the rules on hiring felons.

In the trucking industry there is a common process called pre-hiring. Use it. Find a company who is willing to hire you, and be honest with them about all of your brushes with the law.
Western Express. CR England. Carolina Cargo. I am sure others can direct you to other second-chance companies.
A DUI nearly 30 years ago might be overlooked. I am unsure.
Like I said though, get a pre hire before you put time and money into a school. Hell, get multiple pre hires if you can!
AND
Make CERTAIN that the company that pre hires you will accept students from the school you end up attending! This is critical! ASK the pre hiring company what schools near you they will accept students from, and ask them to email you that info so you can have it handy.ibcalm19 Thanks this.
