My air conditioning went out on the way to Fort Lauderdale 2 days ago. 111 F on the dash and the electronics are going haywire. The truck tablet won’t work. My DM doesn’t care. He doesn’t want to route me to a terminal because I was at one last week. What can I do? I’m thinking of finding something on the DVIR? Good idea or bad? Quitting early just became a real possibility.
How do I play this game?

Unfortunately, air conditioning is not a DOT required system. So DVIR isn't a good plan. If it prevents you from resting then you can ask for a hotel room. I don't know about hotels with truck parking in the area.
If you are fatigued you are not DOT ready to drive. But office types at some companies see A/C or fatigue like complaining over something trivial. I can't say what your company will do if you say you are too tired to drive due to the heat.snowlauncher, Flat Earth Trucker, 77fib77 and 2 others Thank this. -

If you apply with KLLM, just say you want to try a different type of trucking.

I understand the AC would not put the truck down. But I’m savvy, I could find something that would. If I can’t, I’m sure someone at the weigh station could. I guess I’ll ask for a hotel room. There’s no sleeping happening in this truck right now. I’m willing to work with them, but they don’t seem to want to reciprocate.4wayflashers, austinmike and tscottme Thank this.
