You deliver it for sure. First chance you get to take the truck back to your home terminal, you leave it there and part ways. Hell you could probably leave it at any terminal. If you can take the truck back while not under a load, that'll be the best. Don't tell them that you want to quit, because you'll never make it to a terminal. Just don't abandon the equipment at some random spot. That'll kill your record.

I’m sitting on a load right now. I’ll deliver it. Then what? Just drive back to the terminal? The closest one to my drop off will be their home terminal anyways

    You could do this...

    Or this..

    Or this..

I encourage you to be as creative as the three above, I know this will be tough, but I believe in you. I also believe in ghosts, big foot, and a world without idiots. So it may not be the best encouragement.

Personally, I'd change 2 week notice, to "I quit" but eh...I'm an odd duck.

You could just do the simple way below....but where's the fun in that.

    Walk in and be like..

It may be a long shot but you could look at where the switches for the air conditioning plug up outside under the hood. Could be that one of them just came loose making the air conditioning not work. I had this happen to me once with a pretty new T680 I drove for one company. I pushed the high pressure switch back in like it was supposed to be and the air conditioner started working again. It could be something simple and it may be something not so simple.

austinmike and Chi Town Steers Thank this.

You'll have to be opportunistic. It may take a bit of time, but let's say you get a load that delivers in or near Nashville. You get empty, but you don't commit to the next dispatch after that. You drive to the terminal and quit right there. If I remember right, they'll want you to acknowledge that you'll commit to the load. Things could be different now from back then, but regardless that's when you tell them that you can't pick up the load and that you're going to leave. Also.....before you quit, make sure you have another job lined up, especially since you're quitting so soon into your first year. If you don't line up a job first, and you quit, it may be difficult to impossible to get another job. The idea is to show some a willingness to work even when things get hard. You don't want them to think think that you'll quit at the smallest of discomforts. By lining up another job while you're still working for Western, your chances are greater to.find something else. I remember a guy in here quit without having another job, and it was hell for him to find something else. Of course he was a at a little bit of a disadvantage because I think he was in California. You're from Illinois so you have it a little easier, but you can't take that advantage for granted.

    Why?

Seriously you are the perfect driver to hire.

You'll be able to figure out why.
You have a sleeper, you don't need a hotel room.

Alternating Current, why would you want that?
    Quit?!?

    NO NO NO!

You've found a perfect home, you need to work.
Why do you think they are stealing from you?

You are stealing from them, they handed you a truck, they are offering you great easy work and you think they are stealing from you?
Great, you proved everything I am saying.
You hit a truck stop, you get a cooler and some ice, and some water.
    Why?

I just wanted to say that you need to ask for more work. Get out west, go to Arizona and New Mexico, take some time in California, it is great out there.
Why go home, you need to make money, and WE will teach you how to do that. They are number 2 in stupid driving mistakes, just watch "BoneHead Truckers".

Thanks for the long shot. Just checked and it doesn’t seem like any of the switches are loose. Gave them a little wiggle and tried again. No AC. After a bit more research it seems to me that it most likely is the the compressor.
