How do you keep going on?

    It is terrifying to know that a bunch of people who do not empathize how the truckers live on the road dictate how you should be running out of greed. You become expendable for the money they put in their pockets. Your health, DAC, and HOS be ######! I thought May Trucking was a good outfit. It only took time to show their colors. It seems there are no trustworthy, decent companies I can look forward to. Or maybe it is just these trainee companies who is willing to take any warm bodies. May Trucking has a very high turnover rate.

    Stop looking at companies that represent a sideways move. Larger companies that pull dry van are not going to be that "step up" in compensation, respect, and autonomy you are looking for.

    If you really want to step up to a company you may want to retire with, start looking for companies that pull tanker, flatbed, bulk, or anything but dry van. Start searching for smaller companies. Make your next move a good one.

    If your going to be fussy where you work, good luck on finding any company that meets your standards or is any better then where your at.

    Your map is stupid; it cuts out all the areas of well paying freight. Look to double your issues with trucking if you show that map to anyone that might hire you.

    Welcome to the club dude what i say to folks that first post on here all excited about the new training and job prospects is give us a post in 12 months time and see if you feel the same way. Your clear proof that things aren't all that there made out to be it's kind of like getting married really your so excited on the big day then your sign on the dotted line your now legally married then comes the honey moon and for the first 6 months everything seems fine then it all starts and that's were patience and long suffering come in.

    Well, what kind of map are they looking for? No experienced trucker I have met in real life loves California for numerous reasons. The red ones I do not want to go. Is that why they pay more because no one wants to go there? Just making clear, the gray ones I can go. So the gray and green ones are almost like the whole USA

    From what I've seen, trucking is like any other industry. Some people will hate the job no matter who they work for. Others will hate working for one company, but love working for another. There are also many different types of trucking jobs.

    It's hard for us to say anything about your situation if you don't tell us what you are disliking about the job.

    I want more freedom in choosing which loads I take. If not then something with more consistency in scheduling.

    I'm quite sure there are some well paying gigs in many of those green states. Like some have already said here, just make sure you got all your endorsements handy and do plenty of homework before you make the next leap.
    Sure, many will find plenty of ways to hate the job, lifestyle, whatever you want to tack onto this line of work. But there are others who will find an enjoyable niche within trucking as a whole that will at least have them feeling less negative and open to a cardiac.
    Mine was eventually finding I thoroughly enjoyed the 150-300 mile/night runs that had me back home at the end of the shift. Seeing as how the current company hasn't found a viable replacement for that run I enjoyed, it's all about sticking it out until I finally find that right mix again and gun for it. This time around, it's coming to the terms of sacrificing chosen days off for the right run and amount of pay.

    Either that or become a metric-cruiser bum with my Honda Shadow and subsist off of the odd-jobs!!
