has anyone out here ever been fired from a trucking company? What happens do they tell you immediately your fired or do they slowly get you loads back to yard when your suppose to go home? Will they lie to you about getting you home on time even tho they are secretly planning on taking you to the yard one load at a time and forget your hometime?

I think it depends. From what I've heard, they usually get you to the yard subtly, so you dont destroy the truck. Then tell you to go pound sand.

Of what I've seen they try and get the truck back to the yard. Of course there could be several reasons for that. Maybe they only have the local clinic do all your randoms. Maybe they want the truck in the shop for a PM. Maybe they want to give you a new truck.

I've been reading a lot of people getting fired brought to yards and kicked out of the truck on here. Man working in Alaska is like a different place you pretty much have to kill somebody or be a total idiot to get fired up here even then it's questionable.
    Wish you good luck.

So companies aren’t required to tell you if your being fired ahead of time? They can just lie? Isn’t their some laws against that?

If your lucky they route you to their yard. They will probably tell you its for a inspection or company briefing.

Tho I have heard of drivers that were told to stay at a motel and a repo man took the truck while she was sleeping. Driver woke up the next morning and her truck was gone. No one talked to her on the phone anymore. Her belongings were mailed back to her and she was sent a bill for detailing the truck.

It's not real bad up here when it's cold the ice get sticky and you get way better traction so it's not as bad as you think. The company I'm with now does go into Canada down to the lower 48 but I have been hauling from Fairbanks to prudhoe Bay mostly it's roughly 500 miles each way thousand Miles round trip and it pays $1,000 pretty good for a company driver, pays way better than other roads.
I rarely see the northern lights but once in awhile nothing like the postcards most times.
Driving up here in Alaska is not a bad gig only thing is we get 15 hours of drive time up here and 5 hours of on-duty time different from you guys in the lower 48. It's easy to run yourself ragged at those kind of hours.

A buddy of mine who just went to work for Marten Transport in January, was delivering a load in Fresno, CA area a couple of weeks ago.

It was VERY foggy and he turned left into the receiver's yard. When out of the Tully Fog came another semi! Major damage.

Marten fired him the same day. He had to rent a car, load his stuff up and drive home to Oregon. Now he has no job.

I'm sure most of the people that make it to Alaska from the lesser 48 are a bit more responsible than the average American, especially if they survive their first real winter. I bet Alaskans think about the rest of us like most of us think about Californians.
